I love this pick up! It sounds great and the microphone is a wonder change! Nothing negative to say! We play Contemporary Christian music. Put this into an Epiphone Jumbo. Installation was not too difficult. Did it myself. Had to drill the hole at the strap button a little larger. I made very little change to my saddle to adjust string height and had to drill a small hole in the bridge.

Once in awhile while during research on a product before you buy, you come across a GEM. Well for guitar owners, this is one to add to your collection.
The company is family run in Nashville, TN and is trying to get thier name out by producing outstanding but affordable products for new musicians and professionals alike. Backed by great one-on-one customer service and support by an AMERICAN company who could go wrong? I say, lets support the small businesses of america.
I have a Copley CA-7 that I will never give up. Here's my summary. SOLID WOOD CEDAR TOP, SOLID WOOD BODY, AWESOME BUILT-IN TUNER WITH A SIMPLE BUT ELEGANT STYLE TRADITONAL BODY. Sounds great. Check thier website. Call em. Don't overlook them.

I never purchased a guitar on line before, I always believed that you shoul dbe able to play it first. I still tend to believe that, but I took a risk on this one. I was not dissapointed. The reviews all said that it was a quality instrument, and that is what swayed me. Now I can be included in those that give it glowing recomendations. The only thing I found that I did not like was that there is no front mounting point for a strap.

OMJM John Mayer Signature Model Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

OMJM John Mayer Signature Model Acoustic Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
this thing is really a joy to play. compared to a older D 15 i have this is a lot more detailed and a bit louder. the action is smooth and great for someone with smaller hands. while it sounds great unplugged, it sounds much better plugged in. the sound is the most perfectly balanced of any guitar ive ever played throughout every string. finger picking is where this thing goes through the stratosphere. every note is like listening to a mastered recording. the case is super high quality. for recording, mix in a little reverb or delay and it will make a track.
pros: perfect tonality and balance. plugged in sweetness. great looks and balance. bracing is overkill and will last for generations if cared for. pull this outta the case and its a cannon among bee bees. perfect for recording. great neck. only 1000 made so u wont be bumping in to many and give a unique feeling. very collectable, heirloom quality.
cons: while it is perfectly balanced, it can lack bass next to a full dreadnought but not thin like a taylor. coated strings sound exceptionally bad on this guitar, totally killing the detail that makes it stand out. the signatures on the inside of john and martin are copies, not actual signatures. lacks dove tail neck.

Norman Encore B20 High Gloss Guitar Review

Norman Encore B20 High Gloss Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our nonprofit, Guitars in the CLassroom, receives donations of guitars for use with the teachers we instruct; among those we receive, Godin provides us with the best guitars from the companies who support us, Kaman, Martin (yes, Martin!), Saga, etc. This B20 just came back from a teacher to whom we had loaned it for her use in the Classroom with her students, as she has now purchased her own - probably not as amazing as this loaner was! When I played it, I was blown away with the power and tone....and the construction detail was superb (and I assume we are getting Blems or 2nds....but I can't tell what the defect might be.) Buy one of these, and revel in what a true large acoustic can do for both group singing and recording. What a sweet guitar! Thanks Godin....

Recently traded in a 4 month old Epiphone Chet Atkins model for this guitar. Also have a Martin D-16RGTE Premium and this guitar sounds better! Our band plays bluegrass about 2 times a week at local pubs, etc. It gets lots of use and sounds great using a condensor microphone. Also gets a lot of looks due to the "old-timey" look. This guitar has a great feel, almost familiar. Great case included! The only issue is the hygrometer always reads "70". If that worked,I would rate it at 5 1/2!

Washburn Cumberland Series J28SDLK Acoustic Guitar Review

Washburn Cumberland Series J28SDLK Acoustic Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A Compelling Opportunity:
Many people know that the best prices on new cars are generally available at the end of a model year. Likewise, with guitars, the best prices on new ones tend to become available when a company announces that a model is being or has been discontinued. This was the case with the Larrivee P-03R and is currently the situation with Washburn's wonderful jumbo six-string acoustic, the J28SDL. For anyone thinking about getting a big guitar with a big sound this is one to consider and the time is now.
Of the standard sizes of acoustic guitars, the Jumbo is the largest. It is the favorite of many professionals and the world-class standard is probably Gibson's SJ-200. It is also a popular size for 12-string guitars such as the Taylor 355. It's sheer size, if properly constructed, makes it the most emphatically powerful of the acoustic steel-string guitars. The Washburn J28SDL has been a favorite of may guitarists for the past ten years and now that Washburn has discontinued production of the model, the existing inventories of them can be had for somewhere around one-third of the original (MSRP) price.
When I called American Music, the company that distributes Washburn guitars, to ask why such a well-made and successful model has been discontinued, the Customer Service representative told me that he had no idea but suspected that new ownership of the brand wanted to make its own mark by dropping some existing models and introducing some new ones. He told me that they receive literally hundreds of calls a week asking the same question.
Although the question may never be completely answered and with the understanding that there are times when guitar makers bring back models that have been discontinued, there is a window of opportunity right now which is rather remarkable for anyone in the market for a well-built, beautiful looking and rich sounding six-string jumbo acoustic guitar. For the money, the Washburn J28-SDL simply cannot be beat.
The Construction and Appearance of the J28-SDL:
Like many top-of-the-line acoustic guitars, the top of the J28-SDL is solid Sitka Spruce. The sides and back are a done in a highly figured ("Quilted") maple laminate and the neck is solid maple. Together with a rosewood fingerboard and butterfly bridge, 18:1 gold Grover Tuners, a lovely abalone rosette (the decorative ring around the sound hole) and inlays on the finger board, a distinctive rosewood veneer headstock and a uniquely shaped tortoise shell pick guard, it is a truly beautiful instrument.
It is lighter in weight than its size would suggest, especially to a player more accustomed to guitars built with solid rosewood backs and sides. There is a definite advantage to the laminated sides and back on this guitar as it is less sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity than are solid wood backs and sides so it holds the tuning better and for longer than most under changing conditions.
The neck width at the nut (The narrowest point on the neck) is only 1 11/16 inches, the same size as a standard dreadnought guitar and narrow enough, along with the large frets, to be quite easily played. A proprietary (Buzz Feiten) saddle/bridge/nut system also helps keep the J28-SDL in tune for much longer than one would have reason to expect.
For fans of details: The lower bout measures 16 ¼ inches, the upper 12 5/16 and the J28-SDL is 4 2/4 inches thick. The scale length is a standard 25 ½ inches.
The internal frame and bracing are industry standard Martin-like construction. There were no mars, glue spots of cosmetic flaws in the one I bought. So far as I could tell, the workmanship on this Washburn J28-SDL (which is built in China) is exemplary.
How it Plays and Sounds:
It's always nice to be able to say that a guitar looks good, but as all players know, how it plays and sounds are the things that really matter most. I am pleased to report that this J28-SDLK (The "K" simply indicates the inclusion of a plastic covered, unimpressive but perfectly adequate hard case) is completely satisfactory in all departments.
As one would both hope for and expect in a guitar of this size, design and materials, the bass range is deep, powerful and resonant. It does not, however (as it does on some lesser instruments) over-power or drown out the mid-range or high tones. This guitar can and will be heard! Gently finger-picked and played softly it has a choral-like quality which is pleasing to the ear and makes a very nice accompaniment to the human voice. Whether played loudly and aggressively or softly and gently, it has nice long sustain (the length of time the tones hang in the air.)
The narrow neck, wide frets and nicely finished rosewood fingerboard make this large guitar a pleasure to play. Mine was delivered pre-set with low action (the spacing between the strings and the finger board) and thus, easy to fret and play for someone with small and medium fingers.
The Bottom Line:
As a currently discontinued model that is still available for sale from many music stores and on line sites, this Washburn Cumberland Maple J28SDL can be an extraordinary value that will satisfy anyone looking for a big guitar capable of producing big sounds for a very reasonable price.

Martin D-28 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Natural Review

Martin D-28 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Natural
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought my Martin D-28 in 1972. I have a Guild 12 and a Stetson 1928 Parlor. I played my Martin D-28 semi-professionally from 1976-1991.
Being of the age that my Martin D-28 is it does not have a truss rod. Never-the-less, it rings like Christmas bells in the philharmonic. I do feel the need to have the neck reset. The newer ones, I believe, have the rod so my problem will not be yours. (The action on mine is a little more difficult after all this time and travel)
The D-28 is a wonder. It is so very true to all types of music. BlueGrass, rock, jazz. CF Martin had his stuff together on this one as it has lasted for decades + and been lauded by all the stars of the aforementioned types of various groups that have needed and used an acoustic guitar.
Construction is superb. Woods are superb. Mine is Brazilian Rosewood and German spruce top. Ebony finger board and saddle. I will have it buried with me to keep it close.
If you are looking for a sweet and life long friend, this is it as to instruments. Not as fancy as some Martins but the sound more than makes up for its basic look. Strum an E or A chord on this or finger pick or knock yourself out and watch your audience perk up. The sound of the Martin D-28 is individual to other guitars. I can pick a D-28 out of a sound track most every time.
Just a sweet and dependable friend. Buy a really good case to protect it.

I have had this guitar for five years....it is top notch. I have just recently (finally) gotten an amp; which doubled the pleasure of this guitar. The cedar lining is a great welcome when pulling this guitar from the case. I buy Martin because it is made in the USA and its manufacturing is deep rooted in America. I am not calling anyone a liar, but I really hope Martin is not really making these guitars in Mexico now...I will be very dissapointed.

Epiphone DR-500M Masterbilt Collection Flat-Top Acoustic Guitar, Natural Gloss, Dreadnought Review

Epiphone DR-500M Masterbilt Collection Flat-Top Acoustic Guitar, Natural Gloss, Dreadnought
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off, this guitar is amazing. Now, my frame of reference. I am a professional church worship leader, and have been playing guitar for over 30 years. I use the Fishman rare earth soundhole mic/pickup combo. I have been using Taylor guitars exclusively for 20 years; in fact I have owned six different Taylors, and have been using a 20 year old 510 for some time. For about five years I have been searching for a guitar to replace the 510 which I want to retire as a collectible. I have tried dozens of guitars, from Martins, to other Taylors, to whatever brand you can name. After playing some low and medium end Taylors (with plywood sides or sides and back), all of which sounded boxy, I saw the "all solid wood" sticker on this epiphone and gave it a try. I was stunned...I had never before picked up a guitar and had it sound like my 510..a little better in fact. I noted the model number and did some research. Loads of positive reviews online and on youtube. I ordered one, and it arrived perfectly set up, with beautiful mahogany wood grain and a nicely grained and silked solid spruce top. The tone was exactly what I heard from the in store guitar I tried, and I am in love with this guitar. Immediately installed the Fishman system from my Taylor onto the Epiphone, and it was just stunning...pure acoustic sweetness. The best word I can use to describe the sound, is it has that nice "warm rumble" you expect from a hand made, solid mahogany guitar; but you can also get a bright sound if you wish. No boxy, hollow sound like the low end ($800-1200) Taylors and Martins. So, bottom line..why pay top dollar for the part-plywood scraps from Taylor and Martin when you can get a completely solid tonewood instrument for one third the cost? These Masterbilt guitars are a steal. I plan on buying a few more, as I can get 4 of them for what I'd have paid for one Taylor or Martin to get an all solid wood model. These guitars will sound better with age. Do not hesitate to buy one of these if you want a truly professional quality instrument. Also, great neck and smooth Grover tuners.

Takamine G Series G360S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Natural Review

Takamine G Series G360S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Natural
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am not an expert, this review is based on my observations and comparisons with other guitars that I tried out in the store. This is a dreadnought guitar, might be too big for those of smaller stature. It has a solid spruce top with rosewood back and sides, which probably accounts for the great sound and resonance. It has a glossy finish with abalone inlays and rosette, really looks nice ! I tried the Ibanez AC30NT and the Yamaha FG720S. The Yamaha didn't sound as resonant as the Ibanez or the G360S. The only downside is it's pricey compared to the AC30NT (hence, the 4 stars).
It is my opinion that guitars are very personal. You need to sit down and play a few chords on it and play the same chords on the other guitars to arrive at a fair comparison. Note both left and right hand positioning and see which is most comfortable to you. If you decide on 1 model, see if you can try out other guitars of the same model. You might be surprised they may sound different, too !

Martin LXM Little Martin Acoustic Guitar wtih Gigbag Review

Martin LXM Little Martin Acoustic Guitar wtih Gigbag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned the Martin LXM now for several years and it's an amazing little guitar. It's far superior to the Baby Taylor in my opinion. It holds tuning like a rock and since it's mostly made of composite materials, it isn't as sensitive to temperature and humidity changes. It's a great guitar to travel with and always sounds wonderful. It has a very warm, balanced tone. It's obviously not as loud as a full-sized guitar or a real wood counterpart, but it makes up for that with a really great sound that doesn't favor highs over lows or vice-versa. The laminated neck is really heavy and gives you an unparalleled amount of sustain for a guitar this size.
About the only thing I can say is that while the quality seems very consistent, if you're very picky, and have a chance to play among several of these guitars, do that. I've handled some that play better than others, but they all play very very well.

I teach guitar and ordered one of these for one of my students. I had a hard time parting with it. Great size, nice cutaway, good electronics, and a tuner. What more can you ask for except it's made by Takamine with it's exceptional quality and sound. It's difficult to find these because they sell out too quickly and the price has been going up. I just can't find the deal I first got for $379 with hard shell case and free ship. My student just loves this guitar and won't part with it. You can't usually go wrong with a Takamine.

Taylor Guitars 614ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

Taylor Guitars 614ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this guitar from a local retailer. I sat down and played EVERY high end acoustic guitar in the store, and quite a few lower models. This guitar is absolutely hands down the winner! The neck plays like a dream, set up perfectly at the factory. The action was set kind of low, but there was zero fret buzz! The sound that came out of this thing blew me away, a beautiful combination of high end and low end with a projection that made every note absolutely clear and concise. This guitar has enough natural volume that it could be mistaken for being plugged in when it is not! Whether you play finger style or pick style you will fall in love with this guitar. The only other guitar that compares in sound with this one is a high end Martin, but that is where it ends, the Martins are borderline unplayable compared to the Taylor. If you ever played a Martin you know what I am talking about, beautiful sound, play like crap. This Taylor rules the roost. Plug in to your amp with this and you get a super clear sounding angels from heaven sound.I have owned many acoustics over the last twenty five years, Gibson, Fender, Takamine, Seagull, Ovation. All those guitars always left me chasing a sound I could not find. I have had this Taylor for almost two years now, and I have nothing bad to say about this guitar. Go play one yourself, and compare. I guarantee you will agree.

Voyage-Air Transit Series VAOM-02 Folding Orchestra Model Acoustic Guitar Review

Voyage-Air Transit Series VAOM-02 Folding Orchestra Model Acoustic Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We tried out several smaller travel guitars at local guitar shops. We searched for several other online. Martin Backpacker, Mini Taylor, Mini Martin, Washburn Rover all sounded good for their size, but really cannot be compared to any full size guitar. If you are basically strumming, then those smaller travel guitars are fine. You can even buy them on E-bay for cheap. If you are doing some more intricate playing, then a full size guitar is a minimum. This Voyage-Air line of guitars fits that need.
This model is the laminate-top model. The least expensive too. Paid 355 bucks here on Amazon with free shipping. We decided that since it is primarily for travel, the laminate would withstand the abuse of travel better than a solid-top. That was confirmed after reading advice from guitar experts.
When locked into position the neck is secure, and it has the full sound of a regular guitar... not the sound of the smaller travel ones. The screw which secures the neck to the base does protrude a bit and you do feel it when your hand slides down toward the body of the guitar. It's no high-end Martin or Taylor, but that is not the right comparison.
The backpack is high quality and custom fit. I'm sure it will fit in the airplane overhead bins as we had hoped. The backpack even has a padded area to fit a notebook computer.
Now my teenage son is excited to be able to bring a full size guitar on our upcoming vacations. I'll try to get him to post a video review.
Voyage-Air has raised the bar with travel guitars.
Update 5/20/11:
Traveled to central america with this guitar. He loved having a full size guitar on our vacation. Fit into all the overhead airline bins easily. No problems with the humidity of central america. Easy to carry around compared to a regular guitar.
