Ovation CC28 Celebrity Super Shallow Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Honeyburst Quilt Review

Ovation CC28 Celebrity Super Shallow Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Honeyburst Quilt

i picked up this inexpensive acoustic/electric for playing at worship. I've owned electric acoustic guitars in the past and was very excited to find a slim roundback guitar that has good, reliable and consistent sound. It sounds good with or without the amp. The strings that came with it were a bit 'horsey' so I replaced them with lighter/brighter strings. It's quick to tune and holds tune well in inclimate weather. After three months, I decided that I like it enough to get rid of my electric guitar altogether. I'll probably upgrade to a more expensive version from Ovation -- I like it so much, I'm kind of wishing I had bought one of the upper-end models now.

Ovation Celebrity Deluxe Doubleneck CSE225 Review

Ovation Celebrity Deluxe Doubleneck CSE225
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am commenting on an item I recently purchased thru AMAZON.com - an Ovation Doubleneck Guitar. While the price was reasonable and the shipping close to the time-line given, there has been a very serious problem with the electronics of the instrument. The switch that relates to the two different necks is flawed in some way. Sometimes the 12-string necks works and then it shuts down and no signal is heard. The electronics to the 6-string neck works fine, but without the consistent switching needed, I cannot yet begin to depend on the instrument for professional use. It would not work favorably for me to be performing on the instrument and have it just cut-out in the middle of a song. Since I just recently came back off a road trip and haven't yet looked into what Ovation plans to do about the malfunction, I cannot say how satisfied I am at their backing their instrument. Washburn D10 Series D10SCEK Acoustic Electric Cutaway Guitar Review

Washburn D10 Series D10SCEK Acoustic Electric Cutaway Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this Washburn electric acoustic guitar (D10SCEK) for over 2 years and it has been an absolute delight to play on. It was (and still is) in such demand that both Amazon and the Washburn sites were out of stock when I tried to order it. I had to pre-order it direct from the Washburn site, but I had to wait for almost 6 months before it finally shipped!
The Washburn D10SCEK guitar is the acoustic electric version of the best-selling guitar in the world -- the D10S (acoustic guitar).
Features
--------
- Sound Improves with Age
The top of the guitar (i.e. the soundboard) is made from spruce (the most common wood for guitar tops). The sound from a spruce top guitar improves with age.
- Built-in Tuner and Preamp
The D10SCEK can be played like an acoustic guitar and to all intents and purposes it sounds just like its cousin, the D10S. The primary structural difference is the D10SCEK has a cutaway for allowing easy access to the upper frets. There are those that contend that a cutaway degrades the sound, but even if it were true, the sound degradation is totally imperceptible to me!
The other difference is, of course, the D10SCEK has a built-in tuner and preamp. The built-in tuner is very handy! It is easy-to-use, accurate, and makes keeping the guitar in tune a breeze!
Washburn has traditionally used the WT-82 (or occasionally, the WT-92) tuner/preamp but they have reportedly started using the Fishman Isys tuner/preamp as well. The preamp has 5 controls (1) treble, (2) bass, (3) middle, (4) presence, and (5) volume.
There are two output options; you can either use an XLR or a 1/4" connector (so there is no need to use an adapter, such as an XLR Female To 1/4" Male Adapter).
- Quality Build
The build of the guitar is superb. The neck and fretboard on my 2-year-old guitar has maintained its straightness, with no signs of warping. The metal tuning pegs have remained very firm (not jiggly) -- the guitar stays in tune once it's tuned. Everything about the guitar from the construction to the finish is impeccable.
The quality of the wood used is first-rate:
o the top: spruce
o the neck, sides, and back: mahogany
o fingerboard: rosewood
- Quality Hardshell Case Included
A high quality hardshell case (the Washburn GC110) is included. The case is extremely sturdy and the plush interior is padded to keep the guitar well protected. (FYI, a quality hardshell case, such as this Golden Gate Hardshell Case, sells for upwards of 60.)
Alternatives
------------
(1) The D10SCEK is available in all-black as well (D10SCEB).
(2) The D10SCEK also has a "Deluxe" version (D10SCEDLK). The deluxe version is identical to the D10SCEK except for its abalone inlayed rosette, gold tuning pegs, and rosewood sides and back (you pay a premium for the extra niceties).
---
I love my Washburn acoustic electric guitar. Its sound quality and build is exceptional. If you're looking for a quality acoustic electric guitar, this one's definitely worth consideration.

Ovation Dj Ashba Demented DJA34-AL Acoustic-electric Guitar, Ashba Land Review

Ovation Dj Ashba Demented DJA34-AL Acoustic-electric Guitar, Ashba Land
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What's the most important thing about a guitar? Sound? Yeah, we'll get there, but for starters? You'll find few guitars as gorgeous as this baby right here. Designed by a top notch guitarist and artist alike, DJ Ashba, the scene portrayed across the body of the guitar is simply stunning. I've received compliments from absolutely everyone who's seen it on the look alone. The sound, however? That's where this guitar really shines. With an onboard tuner that assures you're always in proper tune, this guitar unplugged sounds as good as my Yahama acoustic. Rich vibrant tones that really sound wonderful in stand alone form. When you plug it in though? That's where it sounds even more impressive, so much so that it's left me with no reason to play any of my 3 other guitars; 2 electric included. Thinking about grabbing one of these? Do it! You won't be dissapointed.

Ovation Elite T 1778TX Acoustic-electric Guitar, Black Review

Ovation Elite T 1778TX Acoustic-electric Guitar, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ovation Elite T acoustic/electric. A quality instrument at a medium price range. Great for intermediate players, hobbyists, dorm rooms, frequent travelers, solo acts, rhythm accompaniment or those on a budget. I also recommend the mid/deep ovation style hard case from RoadRunner. Cost me $100, but I have flown cross country with it and don't regret the extra expense.
This is the only guitar I own, and I do not plan on buying another anytime soon. The body material is like rhino-lining. Incredibly tough, no scratches or blemishes. It does not resonate as well as wood, but this can be a plus if you have picky neighbors and thin walls. Fantastic electronics. Bridge is solidly secured to the body. You cannot adjust the action on this instrument. Fretboard feels good. Neck looks like maple, which is a cheap wood, but is stained and finished nicely.
I wish the fretboard had a cool inlay to liven up its somewhat bleak appearance (looks nice, just a lot of black) and that the built-in tuner was chromatic. But this would drive up the price...
