(More customer reviews)Our nonprofit, Guitars in the CLassroom, receives donations of guitars for use with the teachers we instruct; among those we receive, Godin provides us with the best guitars from the companies who support us, Kaman, Martin (yes, Martin!), Saga, etc. This B20 just came back from a teacher to whom we had loaned it for her use in the Classroom with her students, as she has now purchased her own - probably not as amazing as this loaner was! When I played it, I was blown away with the power and tone....and the construction detail was superb (and I assume we are getting Blems or 2nds....but I can't tell what the defect might be.) Buy one of these, and revel in what a true large acoustic can do for both group singing and recording. What a sweet guitar! Thanks Godin....

RainSong Guitars Studio Series S-OM1000N2 Acoustic-Electric Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I've owned a RainSong H-DR1100N2 since April 2010, and purchased an S-OM1000N2 in March 2011. The H-DR is a loud dreadnought voiced similarly to a Martin. The S-OM compared to my son's Martin 000-16RGT has a more even less miss range dominant tone and sounds great too. With your eyes closed, nothing about the tone of the S-OM would make you think anything other than high quality, solid wood. The Studio series RainSong guitars have a textured finish (rougher than a typical satin) that is buffed out to a smooth satin on the neck. If you are prone to hitting the top of your guitar with a pick when you play, the full gloss Hybrid series might be a better choice to reduce pick noise. On the plus side, the textured finish makes the guitar easily positioned and stable, seated or standing. The Fishman Prefix-T sounds very good (huge strides ahead of earlier Fishman under saddle systems) and has a tuner which smoothly tracks even an open low-E. The fret job is absolutely perfect and the action is spot on (3 and 2/32nds, low/high E, 12th fret, Elixir Nanoweb lights). The build quality is clean inside and out.
You can now choose between wood or composite guitars; trading off the aesthetics of wood against the durability and convenience of composite (no humidification, no case storage as recommended by Taylor, leave it in the trunk of your car -- well maybe not in an equatorial desert), without concern for volume, tone, or playability.

Seagull Coastline S6 Burst GT Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I got this guitar as my beginner instrument to start getting into acoustic guitars and I think it turned out to be a really great choice. I was going to get a Seagull Original S6, but then I found one of these for basically the same price.
Just to get it out of the way, wow this guitar looks fantastic! But how does it sound you say? Well, since I'm just starting out, I don't have a developed ear, but from what I can tell it's very warm, bright and layered. I noticed it sounds a tad muffled when I finger pick, but that just may be how it usually is since I'm new to guitar. Also, the guitar had a few oddities sound-wise when I first started playing, but now those have gone away. It was probably just the change in temperature and humidity since it was cold outside when they delivered it.
The action seems really perfect; the strings are low enough to the frets to play, but they don't buzz. The solid top gives the guitar a fantastic ring and I was surprised how long I could hear a note after strumming. It's got a glossy finish which looks pretty, but is prone to getting fingerprints if you care about that kind of thing. I've read that this kind of finish will show scratch marks more easily than a semi-gloss or flat finish so be aware.
Anyway, I'm 100% satisfied with this guitar and would definitely recommend this to others looking for a good band-for-the-buck guitar.

If you finger pick, there's plenty of room between the sets of strings. It's soundboard puts out plenty of volume. The more I play it the better it is sounding.

RainSong Hybrid Series H-DR1100N2 Dreadnought acoustic with N2 neck Review

(More customer reviews)I was at a jam last Sunday night with half a dozen other dreadnoughts pounding away and I was able to cut through lead lines even though I had my H-DR1100N2 strung with relatively wimpy strings (Elixir Polyweb 11's). There were many comments on how nice and big it sounded. I now really appreciate the slightly brighter tone it projects up to the player (I love Polyweb strings for their lack of squeaks, but the dull tone can get annoying when practicing).
My bottom line on the Hybrid: nice conventional looks, no slide out of your lap Ovation effect (all other manufacturer's composite guitars do this), very loud by wooden guitar standards, great tone by wooden guitar standards (traditional RainSong customers will likely prefer the older all graphite models), excellent build quality, so light that other guitarists just want to hold it up to be amazed, a truss rod for us perfectionists, and all the convenience of composite materials (humidity/heat indifference).
