Oscar Schmidt OS11021FN Autoharp Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The Autoharp arrived sealed from the factory and the sounding board was warped. Total Music Source had FedEx send me a prepaid shipping label and within a week of sending it back I received new one. It is in fine condition and I expect to get years of enjoyment out of it. Thanks Total Music Source!

Kala Solid Acacia Pocket Ukulele Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I can certainly appreciate the convenience of having a tiny uke to take with you on trips, picnics, park, etc., but if you have long fingers, this may be uncomfortable to play. The frets are close together and as difficult as it is to play a soprano uke, this seems even more so. However, for a little guy, it packs a good punch and has a fairly good sound.

Oscar Schmidt 21 Chord Autoharp Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I purchased this for my six year-old's birthday because her father and I play guitar and she always wants to be a part of the music practice. She is learning to strum in time and be dedicated to practicing an instrument. We all love playing this. Fabulous quality, take some time to tune. Buy the hard case for it and plenty of picks.

Oscar Schmidt OS11021 Autoharp Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)It was very affordable - but - it had not been properly stored. The strings were extremely dirty, some were rusted and one was broken. There was no parts list for reordering parts from Oscar Schmidt. Additionally, due to improper storage, the felts were very dry and hard. It needs retuning every day due to the poor string quality. I'm not sure it was worth the savings. I'm having a difficult time finding a technician to refelt the bars.

Oscar Schmidt OU240SWK Tenor Ukulele Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought this uke about a year ago and registered it on line at their site that I find out it is not really theirs but contracted out. well ok but i have a crack developeing in the bridge, well we need the reciept-- but its registered with you--- well not really. But i will send you a return auth that you get to pay for--- send you a repair estimate that you can pay and then return it to you at your expence ----no thanks id sooner put in in the garbage and get a reliable instrument. only noticed the crack because it developed a buzz on the 1st string second fret. the uke has never been out of my room and they wanted to know if I kept it in a safe dry place besides ,I keep in the case schmidt provided , do you use desicant ,are you kidding me!
Well the Uke is at the factory and they are covering the repairs and doing a full set up on it. They were great once we got everything in line. I hope it comes out well as I was really in love with this uke it is beautiful and played like butter so I'll put this back up to a five if the repair goes as promised!
Well I've had the uke back for some time, they replaced it and did a great set up on the new uke. It is my favorite uke currently and I would not trade it. Play's like butter again nice low tone very bluey for a uke. hope this helps others.

Oscar Schmidt OU245SWK Tenor Ukulele, Mahogany Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Just received a brand new Oscar Schmidt tenor uke purchase on Amazon.com. Perfect condition although box was damaged and partially opened. No shipping label was included. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very plush hard shell Oscar Schmidt black case included. I re-read the description on Amazon and the inclusion of the hard shell case was not mentioned. I had already purchased a new tenor-sized case so will have to return it. I would suggest updating the description to say the case is included. The finish on the uke is beautiful. I am just a beginner player but appreciate the rich full sound compared to my soprano uke. I already recommended this uke to someone who is a guitar player and wants to learn how to play the uke.

Kala Flamed Spalted Maple Tenor Ukulele Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)In Hawaiian pidgin, "kala" means money... well, I think when it comes to Kala brand ukuleles, "kala" means you're saving it, not losing it. Kala brand ukuleles are awesome ukes for incredibly reasonable prices. The Kala Maple Flame Tenor Uke is my favorite. I went to my first uke lesson, a borrowed Kala Mahogany Tenor in hand, with slack guitar master Walter Carvalho and he was playing the Kala MF Tenor. I couldn't believe the deep full sound produced by the Maple Flame. I thought surely it only sounds incredible because it's being played by a gifted musician. To my surprise, it even sounded awesome in my humble beginner hands. The uke itself was also beautiful. The friend I'd borrowed the Mahogany from offered to buy me the Maple Flame if he could have his Mahogany back. Don't need to ask me twice! Since then my friend has bought himself a Maple Flame Tenor and I recently bought a Mahogany concert. Great ukes that don't break the bank! And don't be surprised if fellow uke players "like try" your Maple Flame after they've heard its sound. I take it to the beach and I always gets lots of compliments over this "nice looking" instrument. Aloha kakou!

Oscar Schmidt OS73C Autoharp Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The 21 chord os73c reissue is a good instrument that can be used by semi pros if set up properly.
The harp is better made with better wood then the 15 chord version. Many very good Luthiers will sell this harp becasue it was built well and to good standards .The big but is it has only fair action -usually some felt issues -that require a pro to adjust to make it have a decent sound. So have it rechecked by someone you trust. I have discussed this harp with Pete Diagle-Buck Lumbert and Drew Smith all great Luthiers who have at one time or still do sell this model. Most have said the chord action needs lowering sometimes refelting some of the chords and Diagle adds special springs that improves performance.SO this would be a five star harp if Oscar Schmdit would have paid more attention. I would add fine tuners which my harp has ( this is optional however adds about 250.00 improves tuning time rather then sound. ) and with a gig bag you are pretty much spending what a cheaper custom harp would cost. ( do not use OS fine tuners ) However it is worth all the updates as this is a great sounding harp for a beginner ,so you dont get frustrated and for the casual serious player . This harp is also a little lighter which is a blessing at least for me. Also can be set up using the Bryan Bowers chord layout which also makes it easier to play with the chord buttons falling in a natural easy way for your fingers .

Oscar Schmidt OS45CE Acoustic Electric Auto Harp Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This wonderful, natural spruce top, maple sides and bottom-stained in a reddish sunburst pattern-is a joy to play. It can be played fully acoustically or can be plugged in and with the battery connected-usually included and it "lives" inside a small panel on the back of the instrument (takes 1 9 volt) goes electronic/acoustic. What I mean is that when the battery is connected the instrument then gives you a 4 panel graphic equalizer that allows for adjustment of low range, mid range, top end and overall sound as well as volume output to the not included amp. This has no bearing on the acoustic output of the instrument, only when it is plugged in to an amp. The instrument has great, wonderful, WARM tones in low to mid range and clear sparkling highs that are a joy to hear on the Christmas classics. For a mass production item this autoharp rates well with custom made a-harps. This a-harp is a nice, well rounded instrument for anybody looking to step up from an entry level black 12 or 15 chord OS 73 that are lightweight with no true tones.
Pluses for this harp-4 band equalizer with volume control (when used with a battery and the instrument is to be plugged into an outside amp source). EACH string has a fine tuner installed which makes tuning the instrument to perfection a snap!
Downsides for this harp-the stock setup for the chord buttons is clumsy and not very practical. This is easily rectofied by the owner taking some time to research which chords need to be moved (based on their style/level of play) and then actually moving the chordbars. Plenty of info can be had from various internet sources on better chord bar placement for this and all Oscar Schmidt (Washburn) autoharps. Other than that I am hard placed to name any other downs to this wonderful sounding, great playing intermediate/pro level harp.
This harp will last the average player a lifetime with proper care. The instrument is a great value for what you get.

Hohner DK500CE Exotic Koa Dreadnaught Acoustic/Electric Guitar with Fishman Electronic System Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I purchased this Hohner DK500CE a little over a month ago. I had a Harmony acoustic for about 10 years that the shop had already lowered the action, and did some other modifications to it. With all that it was still hard to play. With the Hohner, out of the box it was ready to play. I took it into the shop only to have a strap peg added to the neck. Even the technician was blown away by the looks of it and was shocked that it was easy to play out of the box. The electronics are great. It has a combination of a saddle pickup and a internal pickup. Both can be blended to make a even deeper sound. The built in tuner is dead on accurate. All I can say is, it is perfect.

Dean Performer Arch-Top Mini Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar Blueburst Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I am pretty impressed with this guitar, it sounds kind of muffled when you play it with a pick, compared to other non electric, non cutaway guitars, there is no denying that. BUT I actually love playing it and especially finger picking sounds so good and when plugged in, it sounds fantastic.

Oscar Schmidt OG312 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I can't say enough good things about this guitar. I have been playing for almost 2.5 years, so I'm still relatively new. However, having been involved with music for at least 15 years (through school band or chorus) I consider myself fairly educated as far as sound goes, and this makes a wonderful sound.
The action is very comfortable, the higher strings seem to ring just a little louder than the low ones, but, that could be the way I am hitting them.
I truly enjoy this guitar. It is the "go to" out of my collection.

Fender FB-54 Banjo, Natural Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I love the Fender FB-54 Banjo, from the stand point of look, feel & the sound is great. The one draw back for me personally is the width of the neck at the top. It is a little narrow for my fat fingers. I'm having trouble fretting the second string & getting free vibration of the first & third. If anyone knows of a banjo that has a wider finger board I'd love to know about it. I think I'd keep the Fender any way, but I might consider a second banjo to learn on.

Fender FM-53S Mandolin, Sunburst Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have tried more a dozen mandolins (5 in my possessions for a few weeks to few months).
It is solidly built and has really good sound, although the price is a bit higher than I expected (300$, expected around 200$) as I had another one, Ibanez with more features (trust rod + pickup + volume/tone knobs) for only 245$, brand new.
However, for acoustic only, Fender 53S is a very good one, the sound is sweet and loud. I bought it used (second hand) at 80$, spend about 10$ for new strings and a missing tuning button and I am ready to play. This is now my main mandolin for the last 6 months.
Recently, I bought a Mountain Tyler transducer for Amazon (24$ shipping included) and spent about 10 mins to install it. Now my Fender 53S is also electric, it sounds really loud when plugged in.
