Kentucky Artist A-Model Mandolin Model KM-505 in Vintage Amberburst Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This mandolin is a beautiful instrument. It is soft, stirring, and easy to play. Even though the mandolin is a 100 star, I had to rate it a 3 because I would not reccomend buying it from amazon. My reasons:
1) It comes unassembled- and personally I don't want to pay someone to set it up after I've had to pay for the entire instrument
2) It is packaged in simply a box and a tiny thin wrapping of foam
Basically, my instrument arrived with the neck snapped, and the strings coiling off it. I had to send it back, and was very dissapointed to see the UPS had crushed the box (and even ripped a hole in it). While I do not at all blame amazon for my mandolin arriving destroyed, it was completely improper packaging for a 400$ instrument. I bought the same mandolin from the 'mandolin store' online, and it arrived in a free hardshell case.
Again, amazon is carrying a lovely instrument, however I do not reccomend buying it from this store.

Lanikai CK-B Curly Koa Baritone Ukulele Satin Natural Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought this uke used from MusiciansFriend.com a while back. It is my first instrument ever and I am pleased to say that it is an absolute beauty. If you are looking for a stunning Ukulele for a reasonable price, definitely consider the CK-B. It sounds amazing and it is not too bad on the eyes either.
It is the only Baritone I have ever held and I don't have any desire to ever get rid of it.

Lanikai O-8E Ovangkol Series 8 String Acoustic Electric Ukulele Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My wife is the uke lady, at my house she owns 4 and mostly plays this one. THis is a great uke for the price. The set of strings that came with the uke needed to be replaces due to dry rot, but that has not been uncommon with other ukes. * strings is really full sounding. Fit and finish are very good.

Kentucky Artist A-Model Mandolin Model KM-250 in Traditional Sunburst Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The KM-250 was recommended by a Luthier as an instrument that I would need to spend an additional $1500 to purchase a different mandolin with appreciably higher quality. He was not wrong!
My daughter plays it mostly, and because she plays guitar and violin, the transition was as smooth as silk for her.
It sounds absolutely fabulous for a $300 instrument.

Kala Flamed Spalted Maple Tenor Ukulele Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)In Hawaiian pidgin, "kala" means money... well, I think when it comes to Kala brand ukuleles, "kala" means you're saving it, not losing it. Kala brand ukuleles are awesome ukes for incredibly reasonable prices. The Kala Maple Flame Tenor Uke is my favorite. I went to my first uke lesson, a borrowed Kala Mahogany Tenor in hand, with slack guitar master Walter Carvalho and he was playing the Kala MF Tenor. I couldn't believe the deep full sound produced by the Maple Flame. I thought surely it only sounds incredible because it's being played by a gifted musician. To my surprise, it even sounded awesome in my humble beginner hands. The uke itself was also beautiful. The friend I'd borrowed the Mahogany from offered to buy me the Maple Flame if he could have his Mahogany back. Don't need to ask me twice! Since then my friend has bought himself a Maple Flame Tenor and I recently bought a Mahogany concert. Great ukes that don't break the bank! And don't be surprised if fellow uke players "like try" your Maple Flame after they've heard its sound. I take it to the beach and I always gets lots of compliments over this "nice looking" instrument. Aloha kakou!

Breedlove Passport D/Mme Guitar Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking at a Breedlove as a third guitar. Yes, I know most of us guitar junkies have more than one (actually, I have four). I came across this cool mahogany one after looking at a lower-end Passport with a Spruce top. I think I caught a fluke because the price was way low. I won't even say how low because I don't want anyone to feel cheated. Lets just say, I could buy another guitar for what I saved. This guitar rocks! I have two Taylors and I would put the quality of workmanship and tone right up there with them. Actually, it's better than my 110. Have not plugged it in yet, but given what I have seen up to this point, I am sure it will sound great. The case it comes in is supposed to be soft, but it is made so well I think I could shoot it and be okay. In short, I am impressed with the look(classic Martin), the tone(brilliant highs, but not tinny), and the quality. It even comes with an extra saddle in case your feel frisky and want to lower the action. Only thing I'm gonna do is put better bridge pins on it and play the heck out of it.
