(More customer reviews)I looked at many different ukuleles including the Lanikai Concert Ukulele Pack with a bag and accessories. I finally settled on the Lanikai Monkey Pod cutaway as it was made of quality solid timber, had a slotted neck, Aquila strings and electronics. The AMAZON sale price changes from time-to-time and I managed to buy the uke when it was not much more expensive than the Lanikai starter pack. The savings on Amazon over local Australian store prices are always substantial and the ukulele was delivered in only 6 days. I ordered a Snark tuner from an Australian internet store on the same day (Amazon does not ship Snark's to Oz)and it took over two weeks to arrive.
The ukelele arrived double-boxed and without any damage. The sound and projection of this solid timber uke is fantastic. The Aquila strings have held tune after stretching & playing-in. The Uke is made in Indonesia but the timber colour is even, matched and well finished. The slotted neck is thicker and slightly heavier than a standard uke but the instrument is still nicely balanced. A 9V battery was included and already installed in the electronics package which is very discrete as the pre-amp adjustment wheels are located out-of-sight just inside the sound hole.
Overall, I have great fun playing and listening to this great looking ukulele and I am more than happy with the Amazon price and speed of delivery. Five plus stars all-round!
