Marshall MG50FX Guitar Combo Amplifier (50 Watts, 4 Channels) Review

Marshall MG50FX Guitar Combo Amplifier (50 Watts, 4 Channels)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just bought this amp a few days ago. So far, so good. It sounds great for what it is. It's a $380 Solid State amp, BUT it has 4 programmable channels, on board digital FX, an FX loop on the back, it's 50 LOUD watts, comes with a nice foot switch that's very easy to use, the amp is not too big or too heavy. You could use it at home for practice or to jam with friends and maybe do some small gigs with it. I'm hoping it won't break down as the other person before me said it did. By the way, the preset lead tone is great, with a touch of delay and lots of good sustain, it has a chunky tight sound to it that I really like.
I played it the other night and really enjoyed the sound. Lots of fun to play. I think for this price, for what you get, for the quality of the sounds, I think this amp is a great deal, providing it doesn't break down. I'm glad I bought it and I'm really impressed with this amp, and that's coming from a guy who owns a top of the line Boogie half stack.
Don't expect the Marshall MG50FX to sound like a $2,000 Boogie or Marshall valve amp, but it does sound great for what it is.
If you're a young guitar player, playing in your first band, and you need a good amp on a budget, this amp might be the one to get. You can just plug in to it and play. No need for outboard FX just to rock out. ....but you can add them if you want using the FX loop.
I just WISH I had something like the MG50 back when I was first playing in bands. This thing smokes all the solid state amps I used to use back in the 80's and 90's.

Washburn D10 Series Acoustic Guitar (Natural) Review

Washburn D10 Series Acoustic Guitar (Natural)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am writing this review from the perspective of an experienced amateur. I got my first acoustic guitar over 40 years ago; I've looked at and played numerous makes/models...and this guitar is one of the best I've found in the "affordable"(ie, less than $400-$500) range.
Why? For less than $300, one gets the following:
- solid spruce top
- mahogany back, sides, and neck
- rosewood fingerboard & bridge
- Grover-style sealed tuners
- Buzz Feiten Tuning System (amazing...see his web site for more info)
- nice bindings on the body & neck
- D'Addario strings
- a case (more on this)
I am able to pluck harmonics at almost every fret...rare on any guitar, no matter the price.
The Buzz Feiten Tuning System maintains pitch, most importantly, at the lower 3 frets.
My guitar may have been a "blem" as it has several minor cosmetic issues...but nothing that I couldn't accept...it plays & sounds so well!
With respect to the case: mine is not the "GC110" that Washburn lists on their website...it was a less-expensive, lower-quality one; honestly, it is not worthy of the guitar, so I will upgrade it soon. I am not sure why the switch was done. Again, not a deal breaker...but potential buyers should be aware.
Bottom line...If someone asked me to recommend a good quality, reasonably-priced, fine-sounding & fun-to-play acoustic guitar, the D-10 would be my first suggestion...and it comes with its own case (with the caveat that it might not be as good as the earlier models' cases).
I hope to upload some pictures...maybe even a video...over the next week or so.

ive been playing guitar off,on for 25 yrs....had my share of stringed instruments.im at the age where i can have any guitar i want, having worked for years,i already have my favorites, and now im collecting...the guitar is pleasing on the eyes.and to me,looks like something that could cost alot more, and i like the fact that there is a variety of colors to choose from.for me this will be another guitar on the wall, played when i want to mix things up a bit.this would definitly make a great starter, and even capable of using to play out as a part of your arsenal.its priced very fair.pickups are decent.basically,it is what it is,a decent guitar at a reasonable price.......

Fishman Loudbox Mini Acoustic Instrument Amplifier Review

This is a great little amp, and surprisingly powerful. It's very clean sounding, like the more expensive Fishman amps, but still quite small. I've played an outdoor picnic and at church with it so far, using a mid size Martin guitar and SM58, and I'm very pleased with the purchase. Definitely the best acoustic amp on the market for the money IMO.

This little amp has a rich sound.
It is ligthweight, and the feature I like the most is that the amp head is removable for practice.
It would be nice with a foot switch.
Highly recommended!

Dean V 79 Electric Guitar, Set Neck, Cherry Sunburst Review

Dean V 79 Electric Guitar, Set Neck, Cherry Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have 17 different guitars from vintage to modern and have always wanted a "Flying V" type guitar. I have everything from vintage USA made instruments to modern Asian made beauties (vintage Les Pauls, Agile and Ibanez) so I've got a pretty good variety of instruments I own and play to compare to this guitar.
The Dean is a reissue of the classic Deans from my formative years. This one is made in Korea to the specs of the '79 model USA Deans from several years ago. I would say that the quality of this instrument is right up there with the best Asia has to offer. The guitar is just drop-dead gorgeous and plays like a dream!
The finish is extremely well done and the flamed maple top is very pretty in stage lights. The binding is nicely applied and the zebra Dean humbuckers look and (most importantly) sound amazing. I have many of my guitars equipped with aftermarket pickups. I can say for sure that I will not be changing these pickups out for Duncans or Dimarzios anytime soon! The voicing of these pickups is very similar to my EMG 81/85 equipped axes without some of the punch of the active electronics. They have truly captured the tone of the Dean USA pickups from the late 70's to early 80's. I am impressed. I was only able to find one "finish flaw" and it was where the binding for the neck and body meet, but I've seen some color bleed like that on Gibson's I own as well, so no biggie. Also, to include Grover tuners on a guitar in this price range is pretty amazing as well!
The frets are nicely crowned and there are no sharp edges along the fretboard. The nut is also cleanly cut (albeit plastic) and is probably the only thing I plan on changing on the guitar in the short term. There is a lot of torque on the nut due to the extreme angle the V'd headstock makes with the tuning machines, so plan on replacing the nut with bone or graphite pretty much right away.
The guitar comes strung with D'Addario 10's that feel just right. I didn't even have to make a neck adjustment when I got her out of the box! It was pretty much tune her up and let her rip. And rip she does! This guitar sounds perfect for hard rock or metal, but cleans up very nicely as well. The neck pickup is extremely sweet and the volume controls are very responsive and increase the tonal versatility of this guitar. It is also nicely weighted (not too heavy like some of my Les Pauls) and the big headstock makes the guitar balance nicely on a strap.
If something happened to this one I would definitely buy another one and I have already recommended this to some friends who are looking for a nice V without the $1200 price tag of a Gibson.
To the "keeper of the flame of Dean guitars," please keep these reissues coming! Do yourself a favor if you're looking for a cool retro V and pick one of these up before they are gone.

Fishman Aura Spectrum D.I. Review

Fishman Aura Spectrum D.I.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this on the reccommendation of reviews on line, here and elsewhere. And the reviews were right, this little box does everything I need.
I was looking for a DI that would provide: a tuner, E.Q., feedback suppressor, and a pre-amp. I play a variety of acoustic instruments and needed
a way to change instruments onstage without the noise associated with unplugging a guitar cable from a DI. The Fishman automatically mutes the signal when
the tuner is engaged, cool! Now I can change from my guitar to mandolin or dobro without having to go to the PA to mute the channel. I wanted something that had
all these abilities in one unit, having too many little boxes on-stage is a drag during and after the performance.
Now for the images the unit provides. I don't have any of the guitars imaged, my stage acoustic is a strange cheap Korean guitar that I hotrodded,(tired of dragging expensive guitars to bars), so I just choose the image of the "Concert Guitar" and found a mic image that sounded the best. They all sounded pretty much the same, which all are actually very usable sounds. I knew and expected I wasn't going to make my guitar sound like a vintage Martin, or my cheap but very cool(vintage) Harmony
electric mando sound like a Gibson, but my instruments sounded great and were pre-amped just right, all with just one box!!!
CUSTOMER support, I had a problem with the first unit the vendor sent, it quit working a week after I bought it, just before a gig I was planning and needed it for.
I went to the Fishman website and wrote a letter describing my problem and need (the gig was in one week), they understood my panic, sent me a new unit without requiring me to send the old one in first (Trust and belief in customers is a new experience for me), THIS was WAY cool and the new one came a day before the gig.
In using the Aura Spectrum on the gig, I was pleased to find the feedback suppressor worked miracles, the sound man had me way loud in the monitor, with a loud low frequency making everyone nervous, I just stepped on the feedback button, and POOF!, it was gone. I could tune up various instruments and get levels very easily, all without leaving my chair (I have to sit down to play dobro). This was a new day for me, life was good, I am a happy customer!!

Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar Vintage Sunburst Review

Epiphone Limited Edition Hummingbird Artist Acoustic Guitar Vintage Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was really drawn to the Epiphone Hummingbird Artist as an inexpensive, solid-top guitar with vintage appeal. Featuring the shape and styling of the classic Gibson Hummingbird on which it is based, this version includes sharp split-parallelogram fretboard inlays, a bound fretboard and vintage Kluson-style tulip tuners. The solid-top and dreadnought shape lend boomy, deep tones that can surprise you at this price. Despite the absence of the pickguard decor from which the model got its name, the guitar is quite a looker and a value to boot.
But that's where the good stuff ends. Once I got this guy home I was stunned by a horrid buzz while tuning the guitar. Now this wasn't a fret buzz that plagues many cheaply-made guitars but an outright hum coming from those snazzy Kluson-style tuners. The enclosed tuner housing and tuner post rattled against one another in a sympathetic vibrato when the low-E was enthusiastically strummer. The rattle was beyond distracting. It was maddening.
Sadly, this guitar was returned. With quality tuners, it would sure be a steal.

I have this guitar and I love it. It is a solid mahogany body set in neck, EMG with active/passive toggle. It's so lovely. I wish Floyd Rose and 80's metal would come back. Who else makes a les paul style guitar with a floyd rose? This is to die for, seriously.

Normandy ATGWB-GD Archtop Guitar with Bigsby, Anodized, Gold Review

Normandy ATGWB-GD Archtop Guitar with Bigsby, Anodized, Gold
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own this guitar, and I love it...here's why:
BIGSBY!!! I've owned Bigsby equipped guitars in the past, and they've never stayed in the stable long. I love the IDEA of a Bigsby and the sound, and vibe...but the honeymoon always comes to a screeching halt when it comes to practicality: I've always had tuning stability issues on my Bigsby equipped guitars. NOT SO WITH MY NORMANDY!!! The roller bridge on this thing allows me to get vibrato happy as much as I want with NO tuning issues. Plus the bridge allows me to adjust intonation, height, and string spacing. Cool.
Tone: I didn't know what to expect from an Aluminum guitar, but I was stunned. This guitar sustains like nothing else I own. I even love playing it unplugged. The pickups are exceptional...very articulate and present. They are at their best serving up a muscular mid range tone that really penetrates a mix.
Playability: World class, AND straight out of the factory with 11's! NICE. These guys nail their set ups.
Appearance: Great looking guitar that is classic and modern at all at once. Great fit and finish. Nice details. BE WARNED: You will NOT pull this guitar out of it's case without every guitar player in the room lining up to check it out.

Luna Henna Paisley Series TLE Electric Guitar - White Review

Luna Henna Paisley Series TLE Electric Guitar - White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This guitar in white comes with a rosewood slab unlike the picture depictin a maple fretboar. The black one comes with the maple board. The guitar came in a standar guitar box in a box setup. It was fairly loose in shipping and the volume control was a little bit jammed to the pick gaurd, but I was able to pull it straight.
The guitar is a beut with the white matchin headstock and the cedar wood pickguard.
Setup on this guitar was great out of the box but with a little neck and bridge tweek it ended up being a top notch playing instrument. The pickups are as good as any I have played with the tele configuration. The fret job is perfect and the rosewood fretboard is clean and slick. It is a fast neck and captures the tele vibe .

Epiphone EF-500RA Masterbilt Collection Acoustic Guitar, Fingerstyle Neck, Natural Satin Review

Epiphone EF-500RA Masterbilt Collection Acoustic Guitar, Fingerstyle Neck, Natural Satin
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I tried this guitar out over the weekend, bought one, and it is an amazing instrument. I'm not given to impulse purchases this expensive, but it was love at first strum ;) As with all of the Masterbilt guitars, the quality is outstanding. I could not find a flaw anywhere on the instrument. The abalone inlays are generous, and I love the look. If you aren't into the decorations, the lower end models are the same but less ornate as far as I could tell from the specs. I have been playing fingerstyle for a couple of years, but this is the first fingerstyle guitar I have tried. What a difference! First off the neck, the V neck is very comfortable and makes barre chords much easier. For normal playing the V sits comfortable in the hand. The neck on this guitar is wider than a normal guitar, it doesn't take too much time to adjust. If you have bigger fingers this will be great, but my fingers are small and it's not a problem. Now on to the sound.. The instrument has a smaller body, which I assume accounts for the diminished bass, and overall excellent tone balance. My AJ model Masterbilt was always boomy, the bass overwhelming the other strings when fingerpicking, not this guitar. I find the guitar easier to play when I'm not having to compensate for the bass. It is easier to get a good volume from the guitar as well I found.
Try this guitar and you will be amazed!

I have purchased MANY items from Amazon over the last few years, and I have to say, I have never been disappointed, until now. This review is more directed to Amazon, than this guitar, a Dean Dimebag Razorback Explosion, which I'm sure is awesome! My son found this online here a few days ago and put in his cart until he could get the money to purchase it. The guitar was $514. He had that money today and went to purchase it and found out it had increased to over $800. He contacted Amazon and they said they could not do anything about it! I am very disappointed that someone can advertise a product here at one price and then just a few days later, raise the price over $300 for the same item! I may not be purchasing again from Amazon.

Blueridge BR-180 Historic Premium All-Solid East Indian Rosewood Dreadnaught Guitar with Abalone Purfling Review

Blueridge BR-180 Historic Premium All-Solid East Indian Rosewood Dreadnaught Guitar with Abalone Purfling
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been playing the guitar for over 50 years, from rock and roll to church music. And the BR-180 is the finest guitar I have ever owned. The workmanship is beautiful, and the tone has to be heard to be believed. The first time I heard one was a couple of years ago in Kentucky while on vacation. It was a bluegrass group, and as soon as they took a break I ran forward to ask the guitar player what kind of guitar he was playing. It was a BR-180. I've never heard another guitar with the tone of the BR-180, not even Martins or Taylors. As soon as I got home from vacation, I sold three of my other guitars and bought a BR-180. It will be the last guitar I ever buy, as I can't fathom that I'll ever find another one as good, especially considering that it is essentially a D-45 for 1/10th the price. Not to mention, I rarely play my other guitars now. Buy it!
