I heard that and immediately thought of my cousin's 9 yo daughter Meganne. I sent Meganne the La Guitara CD & asked her if she'd like to learn to make that kind of music. Meganne is now the proud owner of a powder pink Pixie acoustic. The reduced girth of the neck is perfect for a girl's hand. Daisy Rock offers the Pixie alone or as part of a starter pack; I chose the latter option. My whole family is quite pleased with Daisy Rock Girl Guitars.

(More customer reviews)Upon buying and receiving this starter pack for my daughters 10th birthday, we were intially very happy. It is a beautiful blue guitar that sounded amazing right out of the box. Although it is a small thing the decals that were to be included were missing and to my 10 yr old it was an important item. I quickly emailed the company and awaited the response. The only response I got was a newsletter and monthly advertisments--no answer as to how to get the decals or if we even could. After a week I proceeded to call the company and was told (rather rudely)that the woman I was speaking with didn't handle that and she would transfer me to someone who did. I have since left 2 voicemails and have gotten no response. I don't understand the problem here I payed over $200 for this kit and expect everything to be in the package. If I had known it was going to be such a problem I would have packeaged it all back up and exchanged it. Will update when I hear anything.

Gold Tone LS-8 Lap Steel Guitar (Eight String, Two Tone Tobacco) Review

(More customer reviews)I've used the 6 string version of this guitar for years. I've gigged it as a "Hawaiian" musician all around San Diego. I always regarded the 6 string guitar as an excellent guitar.
In time though I came to realize that to really explore the instrument you need the other 2 strings. With 6 strings I found myself constantly using work-arounds to compensate for the missing lower strings... which can be confusing on the gig as it's not always intuitive where these notes are. With 8 strings you have two complete strings courses so that your straight bar positions cover nearly 2 octaves.
I use A6 tuning, no variation, so the upper 4 strings are one octave higher than the bottom four. The intervals are the same as C6 with a hi G string, so the transition - should I ever need to play in C6 - is very simple.
The neck is a little wider and thus the guitar is heavier, but this guitar is otherwise identical to the 6 stringer. The finish is superb. String spacing is a little wider than older lap steels but very comfortable. The single coil pickup is responsive and articulate. The Kluson tuners (well, Gotoh Klusons) are quality and the buttons are metal rather than plastic... although I have nothing against plastic buttons.
My only complaint: the "fretboard" (which incidentally features actual frets) only extends to the 19th fret. Often I have to go above that which can be a pain, but you'd be surprised how quickly you get used to it. Still. To the good folks at Goldtone: I realize this is supposed to be a somewhat-identical copy of the Oahu Tonemaster... but I don't think the Tonemaster ever came with 8 strings. So in this case it is permissible to use an extended fretboard, at least to the 24th fret. At least think about it.

Cordoba Cadete 3/4 size Classical Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I have had both expensive and inexpensive classical guitars and for some reason I am drawn to the 3/4 size. They are easy to handle, lightweight, and normally are very good sounding. The Cadet is really a nice classical for the money. I do realize that you can get a good one and you can get a bad one. This is normally true with any instrument. The guitar I received was perfect in every way. Great finish, frets perfect, good intonation, all inside bracing and glue were top notch, and most important it played like a dream. Sustain was better than expected. The only thing that you should consider is that the nut width is 1 7/8 inches wide and while this is slightly less than a full size 2 inch nut it is still a stretch for fingering. The fretboard is flat requiring you to stretch more than a radius fretboard or a standard acoustic guitar. I like everything about the Cadet and I really like the price on it. If you are new to classical guitars try out a 3/4 size before you put down your money for a full size. You might just fall in love with it.
