Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Jazz Bass 60's, Olympic White Review

Squier by Fender Classic Vibe Jazz Bass 60's, Olympic White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Over the past several decades I have owned lots of basses, including some very expensive ones (Sadowsky PJ5 and Lakland 55/94 fretless). None were set up or executed any better than this Squier CV Jazz.
I always do my own setups, so as soon as I received this one I went through it... everything was already set as I like it except the string height, which took only a slight adjustment to get to my preferred setting.
This is really a superb value. Get past the name on the headstock and try one, you'll buy it.

Gretsch Guitars G6199 Billy-Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Electric Guitar (Standard) Review

Gretsch Guitars G6199 Billy-Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Electric Guitar (Standard)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It seems as though everyone wants a Billy-Bo....likely because it originally was made for Bo Diddley who gave an original to Billy Gibbons of ZZ geti-up....A typical Gretsch, it plays well, stays in tune and has a robust, hearty tone. Made in Japan! MSRP is reported to be in the 3,800 range which is custom, domestic pricing and discounted down to $2,695....Problem is, it stays in perpetual backorder...I love this guitar and recommend it for pros who want to improve their sound....It dresses well even if you do not have a long beard. If you can get one,. try it first then buy...comes with a hardshell case which is beer can proof for those gigs in saloons which have no chicken wire protection! ...wish it came in other colors...

Dean V Inferno Electric Guitar, Black With Blue Flames Review

Dean V Inferno Electric Guitar, Black With Blue Flames
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had this awesome guitar for about 2 weeks now and cant put it down.
It almost feels like it plays itself. This guitar has incredible sustain,
the pickups are great all the way from crunch to warm and mellow.
This is a great deal for such an incredible guitar.
The inlay work looks great and the neck through body really gives
this guitar the tone and sound that DEAN fans have come to love.
The maple body is as light as a feather and feels great and
is properly balanced. This is another shred MACHINE from the DEAN
masters.
For some reason the inferno has not been as popular
as some of their other guitars and i cant see why. This plays as well
as the dime from hell and the Dixie Rebel.
There is NOT a double locking Floyd Rose trem on this axe, there is a tom style bridge and the ever faithful Grover tuners which do a great job
at keeping in tune.
I would recommend this to your ammo collection of great guitars.
If you are a collector of flying v guitars do NOT pass this one up!

Lyon KISS - 2006 Autographed Electric Guitar, Limited Edition Review

Lyon KISS - 2006 Autographed Electric Guitar, Limited Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For an entry level guitar, this one is much more solid than many other brands (first act, yamaha, even some fender in my book). But, you get what you pay for. This is a Lyon by Washburn guitar, the beginning line of Wasburns, and not even on their website. But, this guitar has decent sound at a decent price. It is also a collectable, signed by Paul stanley of kiss, 7500 made. It is not going to be a great guitar, but it will do for beginners, and can be upgraded in time if wanted. A great collectors item for kiss fans as well. Check it out. Also available in this 2006 autograph line are 3 other guitars, one by the Weezer guitarist, one by the All american rejects guitarist, and one by Fallout boys guitarist. Included in all are 3 picks, a strap, and the authetic autograph proof card, and a poster on the box.

Godin A5 Ultra Fretless 5 String Bass - Natural SG EN SA Review

Godin A5 Ultra Fretless 5 String Bass - Natural SG EN SA
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Godin A5 Ultra is not an acoustic instrument (though it projects enough sound unplugged for satisfying practice purposes), and it definitely does not replace or approximate the sound of an upright bass. It does, however, produce a very full, dimensional amplified bass sound that emphasizes the character and presence of strings and wood, and blends well with acoustic instruments. It's not well suited for very loud situations, since the strings and top tend to feed back easily at high volume. But the sensitivity that causes that feedback also gives the bass a level of responsiveness and dynamic range more typical of acoustic instruments than solid-body electrics. The piezo/magnetic pickup combination is flexible and well-suited to the instrument (I can't comment on the synth interface since I haven't tried it). I also haven't yet used the Godin in the studio, but I have no doubt it will record beautifully. My only complaint, aside from the feedback, is the need for a string retainer at the headstock for the low B string, which rattled a bit when played open until I added a retainer. Aside from that, especially at the price, this is a superior, lovingly-crafted instrument.

Fender Highway One HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar 3-Color Sunburst Review

Fender Highway One HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar 3-Color Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am SICK enough to own 8 (!!!) of these instruments!
Hey...when I find something I like............
Let me preface.....these are wonderful toneful pieces of wood that are nicely made.
They LOOK great onstage and are sexy as hell!
The ELECTRONICS (pickups) however, leave MUCH to be desired!! In short....they SUCK!!
I WILL NOT accept mediocrity in MY instruments...they must PERFORM; and PERFORM to MY specs!!
The humbucker is WEAK and toneless....no cajones to it!
The single coils are noisy as heck and are mousey.
The tuners (Ping) are horrible little pieces of dung!
The saddles are cheap.
After sinking about $300.00 in new pickups, tuners and saddles......these guitars are absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I will put them up against a Fender Custom Shop instrument ANY day of the week!!
So....for a total of about $1100.00.....these guitars (IMHO) rival just about ANY Custom Shop guitar!!
And SAVE a couple of thousand dollars in the process!!
Get one.....and 'do it up' YOUR way...with YOUR choice of premium pickups and such....you'll have a GREAT guitar!!

Blueridge BR-40CE Contemporary Dreadnaught Cutaway Guitar with Fishman Classic 4T Pickup Review

Blueridge BR-40CE Contemporary Dreadnaught Cutaway Guitar with Fishman Classic 4T Pickup
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
...and it is the acoustic/electric cutaway "cousin" of the Blueridge BR-40 Contemporary Dreadnaught Guitar.
I have seen/played this model prior to purchasing it; the quality & craftsmanship on this guitar are high-quality...and it rings like a bell, with or without amplification. Things like:
- a tight-grained solid spruce top
- a rosewood bridge
- a bone nut and saddle
- an East Indian rosewood fingerboard
- a carved mahogany neck with a dovetail neck joint
- mahogany back and sides
- vintage-style quality open-back tuners
are just some of the impressive details.
One downside: In the recent past, this model has been sold with the Saga Golden Gate hardshell case included (most online retailers sold it that way). Apparently this has changed, since the one I just received came without...which was a disappointment for 2 reasons:
- it's good protection for when the guitar is shipped (shipping w/o a case is rolling the dice in my experience)
- it provides ongoing protection (especially for humidity control) once in your home or when traveling.
There had previously been an image depicting the case along with the guitar, which has since been removed; Amazon still indicates a shipping weight of 25 pounds, which is what the guitar & case weigh together...but this must have been an oversight.
If a case had been included...as it has typically been in the past...I would have given it a 5-star rating, which I almost never do in my reviews.
I'd recommend using an included case or gig bag as a pre-requisite for any online guitar purchase, since UPS & Fed-X don't generally have the word "fragile" in their dictionaries.
I hope to post pictures in the near future.
Happy playing!

Dean Razorback V Guitar 25.5 Scale Black-Yellow with Case Review

Dean Razorback V Guitar 25.5 Scale Black-Yellow with Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is just simply a great guitar. Keep in mind the floyd rose is licensed but I have dive bombed on this guitar repeatedly and it does not go out of tune. The 255 comes with active EMG pickups. Mine is not the 255 version but the one just under it, but I know the EMG's simply scream as a fellow musicians has these pickups and they are brutal.
My Dime V came with a dimebucker but still is a very good pickup.
You may want to have the action set by a Luthier to your preference. I was able to adjust mine with some ease but I have playing quite a while. Also, do you homeowork on floyd's before you change the strings or you could be hurtin'. The bridge must be blocked before removing the strings or you will throw the whole set up off. Also, floyd's require the balls on the string to be cut before being placed into the bridge. This is not about this particular guitar, floyd's are great tremolos but you must have some basic knowledge of how they work.

Cordoba C10 Classical Guitar, CD/IN Review

Cordoba C10 Classical Guitar, CD/IN
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a really great guitar for the money, and definitely beats out the old Yamaha classical I used to have lying around. The solid woods were the biggest attractions for me in picking one up for myself, since my other old guitar is laminate I think so it sounds kinda stiff. But my C10 has a pretty and open sound and is very easy to play.
I saw the other review on here only giving this guitar "1 star", but it doesn't look like that person even tried out the C10 themselves (like they were sent a different guitar from Amazon?)- so i thought'd I'd put in my 2 cents since I can tell you i'm pretty pleased with mine!

Tech 21 TM-30 30W, 1x10 Guitar Combo/Direct Recording Amp Review

Tech 21 TM-30 30W, 1x10 Guitar Combo/Direct Recording Amp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned a Tech21 Trademark 10 (and a Trademark 60) for a number of years now, so when the 30 came out it was a no-brainer to buy one. This amp is essentially identical to the Trademark 10, with more output and a different speaker- but that additional 30 watts makes a lot of difference.
The 10 was a great practice and recording amp, but didn't quite have enough oomph for playing gigs (although some guys ran the output into the PA, which worked well). But the 30 is a LOUD little amp, and it seems to have a bit more low end, too. I'd have no problem at all using this little amp for gigs in small or medium sized halls.
Like the 10 it replaces, the 30 has a tremendous range of sounds- it can mimic just about any amp you've ever heard. And the reverb sound- something usually skimped on in tiny amps- is gorgeous. The box contains a real 3-spring Accutronic reverb, just like the big boys. Thinking back to the Fender Princeton I started with as a kid, this little amp has far more sounds, it's twice as loud, and adjusting for inflation, probably less than half the price.
Strongly recommended as a practice amp, a recording amp, a performance amp for small venues, a travel amp, a front end for running into the board in big halls... the possibilities are limitless. Maybe the best little amp on the market today.

The guitar is beautiful, and sounds great. The action is nice and low.
Worth the money, but for a few bucks more, I sent it back, and ordered the custom model.
Im a huge Shcenker fan, and have been for 25 years.
Cant understand why these guitars are being sold so cheap by everyone.
They came out a couple years ago, and I guess becouse of the economy, they sat on the shelves. Nows the time to get a deal.

Kona Select 5 String Exotic Wood Electric Bass Guitar Review

Kona Select 5 String Exotic Wood Electric Bass Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wish someone had reviewed this bass before I bought it, I wouldn't have hesitated! It is reminicent of a warwick with lovely sapele mahogony top shaped to fit the body, and a wide fret board. The strings are large and amply spaced and very easy to finger, hammer on and pull off. This bass really melts in your hands, with robust knarly vibrations that adds that special dimension to 5 string bass! There's a likeness to playing an old Fender, the way the strings almost stretch under your fingers and really growl. Excellent active electronics, infinite tonal control, little left to desire. Through a Rumble 100, it'll really shake the house.
This bass can be purchased at an affordable price by careful scrutiny, less than $400, so it's an excellent value. 10 year warrenty from Kona is a good deal too. I've read about basses that almost "play themselves" and this is one!

Fender G-DEC® 3 Thirty 30W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp METAL Review

Fender G-DECĀ® 3 Thirty 30W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp METAL
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Venturing in the virtual vibes of valve amps, Fender has got it right!
This is a huge jump over the previous Fender GDec, you'll get mp3 and wav loops (midi supported, but will you ever use it?) to jam with and come up with ideas. Drum only track to practice in any key you choose, a phrase recorder to create your own backing track and tons of options to choose from top bands.
Save what you want to an SD card, 8GB supported ( higher capacities not officially supported), seamless interface editing and adding files through the bundled Fender Fuse software (my friend didn't like the interface, could be confusing, but I'm ok with it)
The bad about is amp is the buttons have a "sponge" feeling and you don't get that "assuring" feeling of click type button. A small gripe for me.
You can change the edition you get to any you choose, returned back to the metal edition after cycling through all of the other editions.
Love this amp with my active pickup Carvin!
A sure recommend.

G6118T Limited Edition 125th Anniversary Hollowbody Electric Guitar (Jaguar Tan) Review

G6118T Limited Edition 125th Anniversary Hollowbody Electric Guitar (Jaguar Tan)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After having just recorded with this guitar, I still can't decide if it is more beautiful to listen to or to look at... the pictures simply do not do it justice, this is an absolutely beautiful combination of super cool design and solid workmanship, but the sounds it can make are just as breath-taking. Much warmer and fuller than other Gretsch hollowbodys when playing jazz, but able to stand up and shout like a Gretsch on blues or rock when it needs to.
In one word this is a "keeper," an instant family heirloom that your grandkids some day will be inspired to learn to rock it like their old man's old man!!

Yamaha CPX500 Acoustic Electric Guitar, Dark Red Burst Review

Yamaha CPX500 Acoustic Electric Guitar, Dark Red Burst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I won't be silly and say this is better than the best Taylor or Takamine but it IS a great value for a $349 guitar. I've had mine for nearly a year now and the onboard tuner works great (I play around with lots of alternate tunings and this makes it FAST - not always looking around for my separate Korg tuner), it stays in tune well meaning the tuners are good hardware, the action is low but not too low where it gets buzy (and therefore easy to fret), it looks great (much better than the awful Amazon picture), and plays right out of the box. I have three other acoustics including a Martin but this Yamaha is the only one I play for all of the above reasons. The finish on the guitar is well done and the binding is solid/good materials are used ESPECIALLY considering this relatively low price point. Unless you buy this CPX500 thinking you are getting $1500 Taylor, you will NOT be disappointed. Oh, and sounds great either through amp or just acoustic. Good tones for a slightly more shallow body. The fact that it is less bulky makes it easier to plunk into your lap and start playing some cool tunes too!

Dean Hillsboro Jazz Electric Bass, Transparent Black Review

Dean Hillsboro Jazz Electric Bass, Transparent Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The sound in this bass is perfect. the strings it comes with it has a great durability and you will not have to worry about getting new ones in a long time. This bass beats the fender's jazz bases by the sound it gives to you and to the audience and this will give you a better impression by the design and confterablilty you'll get when you are playing it. The exception of all the great things in this bass is where you insert the amp cable. It is very easy to break it and you'll have to repair several times if you are not careful with it but when it is delivered to you'll be amazed as I did when i first got it and started playing and you will not regret paying for those $300. The color is just beautiful and specially with the white design on top of the body.
