(More customer reviews)This is a serious instrument that sounds like an upright bass or a bass guitar depending on how you set the pickups. It is great with the small size but big tone. Go to YouTube and search for and listen to some of the clips. I love my Ashbory! I love my Fender Jazz 1978 bass but as I get older it gets heavier. Ashbory is great to carry on a plane or camping. Play it through a Crate Taxi battery amp and you are ready to make great music!

(More customer reviews)Did not buy this through Amazon but through a large retailer. Intrument looks beautiful and feels great to play but active electronics gave out in 2 days. Retailer tried to send it out to local repair place but they can't get Dean parts. Now it has been with Dean factory repair shop for over 4 months with no end in sight. Last time I will ever buy Dean. It seems that beauty is only skin deep.

(More customer reviews)I love everything about my new Dean Edge 4 fretless bass. I no longer have that fret buzz, and it has a knob that can turn it way down to bass if I like, or not depending on the kind of music. I love the color of the wood, the feel of the body against my own body, the smooth to rumbly sounds, the freedom to hit the notes exactly (you cannot do that on a regular fretted bass). And I love being able to slide smoothly up and down the neck without frets getting in the way.
It did take me a couple of weeks just messing around, playing on it to train my ears and get used to how to hit the notes right. At first I was kind of sloppy, but don't give up because once you get the hang of it you are in heaven.
This is my first fretless and I just love it. Not for someone who does not have ears trained to hear a scale. In order to use this or any fretless bass, you have to know by ear if you are hitting a little sharp or flat. There are markers on the neck which do help, but ... I wouldn't think of getting any other bass right now, I am having so much fun with this one.

Fender Black Ashbory Fretless Electric Bass Guitar With Gig Bag - New Review

(More customer reviews).....this just did not feel comfortable. The rubber strings felt,...well like rubber. I had to use baby powder to move up and down the strings. They were sticky and kept falling out of the grooves on the neck. I have heard some people really like this bass. I would suggest find it in a local shop and test it and go home and think about it then come back and test it again. I purchased it on line and got stuck with it because too much time went by, so I could not return it. When I traded it in I only got $75 for it. Good luck.
