(More customer reviews)Anyone considering a guitar in this price range should already be familiar with a strat in general, so I won't go too much into detail about the guitar itself. This one has the traditional strat sound without the noise and buzz of the older single coil pickups, thanks to the noiseless N3 pickups. The description for this listing is a bit inaccurate - the guitar has a traditional 5 position blade switch, not 3 as described. It does include a case, though it's not listed in the description. The guitar arrived quickly and in fine shape.
My biggest concern was whether or not it would be playable and was it really a tobacco finish with a maple neck. I'd checked Musician's Friend, Sam Ash, Sweetwater, and many other sites, and none of them had one in stock. As I waited the few days for it to arrive, I almost convinced myself that I was going to be disappointed because it wouldn't be a maple neck, or it would be a floor demo, etc. But it was the exact finish and neck pictured. It's in pristine condition and I can tell it has never been played since it left the factory. It's been years since I've owned a strat and I'm thrilled to have one again.
A quick word about ordering a guitar online. For most of my playing career, I wouldn't have dreamed of buying a guitar without playing it first. But these days, unless you live near a major music chain, your choices are much wider online. You definitely take your chances - you might get one you would reject in a music store. But Amazon has a fair return policy, so I took my chances. And in this case it paid off. The guitar is exactly what I ordered, it plays well, and it arrived in great shape. Your mileage may vary, but I'm very happy with this purchase.
