(More customer reviews)I've had the GSP1101 for about 3 months now.
Previously I had been using a Digitech GNX4 for several years. I was satisfied with the GNX4, but one of the big issues that made me upgrade was the fact that the GSP1101 is rack mounted. I find floor processors inconvenient for setting up presets and adjusting parameters. I'm up here and it's down there. I love having my effects at the top of my rack closer to eye level and not having to bend over to the floor to make adjustments.
Another feature I find very convenient on the GSP is the row of Gain, Tone, and Volume knobs. At any time you can just turn a dial on the front of the unit as if you were using a regular amp. You don't have to scroll through menus, or click a bunch of buttons to light up a certain row just to tweak the basics like treble or bass.
I found it handy that you can globally turn off cabinet modeling. I personally have no use for it.
Granted, I'm quite familiar with Digitech processors, but I found the menus rather simple to learn. I ran through the setup tutorial in the book and I was editing my own presets in about 5 minutes.
For the price, I'm very very satisfied. It does everything I need in a pre-amp/effects unit. I find the foot controller (sold separately) a little pricey when compared to the GSP1101 itself.
When compared to the GNX4, the sounds are a little different. Say if you compare the same amp models on the 2 different units. I can't say one is clearly better than the other. I still love my GNX4, but the GSP1101 has become my main pre-amp.
