Washburn Jazz Series J3TSK Electric Guitar
I found this guitar on Amazon.com and immediately liked the looks of it. I found the description on Amazon to be a little confusing because there were two different descriptions. I finally looked it up on the Washburn web site. When I received the guitar I was pleased to find that it included a pretty descent HS case. When you receive the guitar you will immediately want to change the strings and do your own set up. I had been looking for a guitar made in the USA. The description on Amazon did not state where it was manufactured (China). The description did not list it coming with the HS case. I assumed that it would as that is how it is listed on the Washburn web site. Given the price of the guitar you realize up front that the quality will not be as good as a $1000 guitar. When I received it I was pleasantly surprised. I feel that it would compare nicely to a $1000 guitar.

ESP LTD MH250 Electric Guitar with Tremolo (See Thru Black) Review

ESP LTD MH250 Electric Guitar with Tremolo (See Thru Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is actually Vladimir's 15-year-old son (the guitarist/metalhead of the household, haha). We ordered this guitar two days ago, and it just came yesterday. (I'm VERY pleased with the speed of its arrival, but I'm in CT and American Musical Supply is in New Jersey, so this probably won't be the case for everyone.) It's pretty safe for me to say that this guitar is one of the best guitars I've ever played. (I've only been playing for two years, but I've tried out plenty of guitars.) The playability is great, the sound is awesome (and the pickups give good variety while still sounding great), it feels very sturdy and heavy, and the floyd rose is a LOT of fun to play with. It came in perfect condition, too.
The only thing is, the picture here looks slightly reddish, though the actual guitar is very black. Look on the ESP website for a better picture, but keep in mind the visibility of the (awesome) pattern depends a lot on the light. But that isn't even any sort of drawback, I'm just saying that this picture isn't quite what the guitar really looks like.
Overall, I am VERY satisfied with this guitar. This is only a first impression, and my opinion may change in the long run, but from what I've seen so far this guitar blows my other ones out of the water. If you're looking for a high quality guitar (with a fun floyd rose tremolo to boot) for a relatively low price, I'd definitely recommend this.
(My bandmates are REALLY jealous.)

Dean Edge Bass Guitar, Quilt, 4-String with Bartolini Pickups Review

Dean Edge Bass Guitar, Quilt, 4-String with Bartolini Pickups

(More customer reviews)
Wow. Where to start....This bass is not your average Dean Edge bass. The Bartolini pickups make this bass shine. The bolt on neck is thin and fast. Finish is beautiful. I really have nothing bad to say about this bass. A bass that sounds this good at this price point is a no brainer. I replace the factory strings with D'Addario Chromes Flatwounds and it just sounds beautiful. At times you can get great deals on these basses, but even at 500.00 its sounds great.

Daisy Rock Elite Guitar, Violet Burst Review

Daisy Rock Elite Guitar, Violet Burst
Average Reviews:

I love my Daisy Rock Stardust Elite. After reading an outstanding review in Guitar Player magazine I was swayed from the equally girly-glam Rock Candy to this little beauty and I wasn't disappointed. The tones are rich and full, without the annoyance of neck buzzing like its Rock Candy counterpart.
For my smallish hands the 3/4 scale neck is perfect. I can easily switch between barre chords without manually placing each finger (read: using my right hand to place my fingers on the chords) to obtain additional reach. My speed and flow of notes improved from the first go on my Elite. Additionally, the slim line of the body makes for comfortable playing.
Even my boyfriend, who is a seasoned guitarist, is surprised and satisfied with the quality and sound from this "girly" guitar. Don't let the name, concept, or sparkly colors fool you - these guitars are quality instruments with a great sound.

The Stardust Elite Classic has rock attitude beneath its pretty finishes with a pair of high-output humbuckers for a rich, crunchy tone, and a mahogany body for a deep, dark sound. Additional tonal options are easy to dial in thanks to a 3-way selector switch, and a push-pull tone control that "taps" the humbuckers to add single-coil sounds for sonic versatility. The Stardust Elite Classic features set-neck construction for increased sustain and stability, Grover tuners along with a fully adjustable tune-o-matic bridge to ensure accurate intonation and rock solid tuning, and Daisy Rock's trademark 'Slim & Narrow" neck which makes it easier for girls with smaller hands to play. Plus, it's lightweight so it won't break your back, even on those super long gigs.Don't take our word for it - Guitar Player Magazine summed up the Stardust Elite Classic as follows: "Pros: rude tones, excellent playability. Cons: none. It's fun to play, it feels great, and it always rocks hard." All Daisy Rock guitars include a limited lifetime warranty, arrive set up, and are ready to play. What are you waiting for - Pick up the Stardust Elite Classic guitar today and start rocking!

Fishman Full Circle Upright Bass Pickup - 6 x 1mm format Review

Fishman Full Circle Upright Bass Pickup - 6 x 1mm format

I purchased this pickup to replace a Gage Realist on a carved bass. Of course, any review of a pickup is very subjective--the combination of bass and strings all affect the sound, and the various pickups never sound the same on two basses.
To compare the two:
The Realist has a deep sound, the bass frequencies are very pronounced, and blossoms (slow attack.) The Full-Circle lacks the deepness, but has much more attack making it more percussive and precise. A pre-amp with an EQ is very necessary to get the lower frequencies out of this pickup.
The Full-Circle sounds about as bad as the BP-100 does when played arco (lacking fundamental frequencies, and the sound of the bow ~7k+ hz) the mid frequencies around 1-2k hz are extremely pronounced, and in my opinion, it sounds pretty terrible (listen to some of Ron Carter's arco work from the 70's and 80's to get an idea of the sound I'm talking about.) The realist sounds *exactly* like the bass does when played arco acoustically.
The Realist works great on most amps without a pre-amp. The full-circle absolutely needs a pre-amp that provides impedance matching.
The Realist is in contact with the top surface of the bass (which explains the slower attack and deeper sound,) but this makes it very susceptible to feedback (especially on a carved bass,) the full-circle is much much better (being contained in the adjuster wheel.) Neither of these pickups are a good choice for extremely loud environments (look at some of K&K's offerings, I have successfully used those playing rock gigs with subwoofers on the house PA.)
Playing in higher positions the full circle sounds crisp and accurately reproduces the sound of the bass; whereas the slow attack of the realist made playing up high a little more vague and muddy.
So, despite the fact that I won't be playing arco on this pickup it is pretty good. With the right pre-amp you can get the fundamental frequencies to pop back out, and the faster more-precise attack makes it easier to hear the bass in an ensemble. Either pickup is great.

Breedlove Atlas Solo BJ350/CM4 Fretless Acoustic Electric Bass Review

Breedlove Atlas Solo BJ350/CM4 Fretless Acoustic Electric Bass
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been playing bass on-and-off for about 20 years and this bass is, without a doubt, the best I've ever owned. Upon receiving it, I immediately changed the roundwound strings it came with to Fender stainless steel flatwounds and that was it. It feels great and the tone sounds beautiful when jamming. Comes with a heavy duty hardshell case.
I can't say enough good things about this bass and I highly recommend it.
