Bugera 333 120-Watt 3-Channel Valve Amplifier Head with Reverb Review

This is a 120-watt, 3-channel(clean, crunch, lead) all-tube amp head. Each channel has it's own 3-band EQ and volume knob, with the crunch and lead channels also having independent gain knobs. Theh clean channel lives up to its name, providing warm, clear clean tones. Don't expect the cleans to have the same body or dynamic tone of, say, a Fender Twin-Reverb, but for most applications the 333's clean tones should be more than sufficient. And lets be honest, you're not buying this amp for the clean tones. So moving on to the overdrive channels, the first thing you should know is that the Bugera 333 is very similar to the Peavey XXX/JSX amps. What this should tell you is that this amp doesn't sound British/Marshall-esque at all. That being said, the crunch channel offers a surprising variety of tones, from a very mild, bluesy overdrive to a pretty high-gain roar perfect for most types of rock or even 80's metal. The lead channel offers an insane amount of gain for pretty much any style of metal or hard rock. By keeping the gain low on the lead channel, you can get enough distortion to play stuff like Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, or certainly Metallica, while still having enough clarity to play a tasteful solo. Turn up the gain on the lead channel and you do start to lose some note definition in favor of insane fuzz; amateur shredder's delight.
A cool tone-shaping feature with this amp is the dampening switch, found on the back of the amp. This feature basically affects how "punchy" the bass tone is. Set on low, the bass is open and punchy. Set on high, the bass is very tight, focused, and deep. Medium is a pretty happy middle-ground.
Also note that this amp is switchable between 4,8, and 16 ohms to match any cab you'll be using.
In conclusion I'll add that this amp sounds great even at very low volumes, perfect for you late night/apartment players.

Warmenfat Micro Amplifier Review

Warmenfat Micro Amplifier

I run Weston House Recording, a tiny recording studio out of my small home in Orangevale, CA; just on the edge of Sacramento.
On occasion, I have gear go down and usually travel to the San Francisco Bay Area for repair. Within the past year, I ran into the Rainbow Electronics repair shop, not more than 10 miles from me. Funny thing is that it they've been there for 20 years!
John McCormack owns and runs Rainbow Electronics along with his wife. From the moment we met, we became instant friends; with me being intrigued with all that he does and he with all that I do.
Out of one of our numerous conversations, he introduced me to his Warmenfat project. Of course, me being one who is always looking for high-quality gear at reasonable prices from not-so-known very small gear manufacturers, there was no choice but for me to buy one so that I could try it out over a long period of time in my studio.
I've been using the Warmenfat for almost a year now. It seems I pull it out whenever nothing else seems to work. In particular, it's great when electric guitar players come into the studio and want to go directly out of their analog or digital pedals or when they want to use their little practice amps with all their digital modeling. These "budget" pieces usually have good tone but for whatever reason, they rarely seem big and 3-dimensional.
I've found that if I run the Warmenfat inline some place in the signal-chain, I can dial-in just the right type and amount of tube character I need and get some life out of these units. I'd imagine it's from all the good and not-so-good natural characteristics in the high-quality tubes and transformer in the Warmenfat; not to mention the excellent circuit designing and product manufacturing.
There are endless possibilities with the Warmenfat. I haven't had the opportunity yet, as there's not really ever any money in paying artists budgets for experimentation, but I look forward in my own projects to try patching in the Warmenfat in various places, such as big electric guitar amp's effects loops, bass tracks, vocal tracks, FX buses, and so many other things!

This cab is a great value, but the speakers are very thin sounding, tinny. It is loaded with 4ohm speakers. Not wanting to have to rewire the entire cab, I finally found some Celestion 4ohm 100w replacements. The website I found them on indicated they were bassy, just the right fix for a thin sounding cabinet. Now with the Celestions, this thing just sings! I was going to go through all the guitar pedals in order to achieve my tone, but now that is not needed!
This cab is rockin', with just one upgrade. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it with that upgrade.

VHT Special 6 Ultra Guitar Amplifier Head Review

I have a few amps, a carvin legacy, an orange dual terror and a pico valve to name a few. I prefer only tube amps.
i was looking for a low cost tube amp with an effects loop. But finding a small one to keep in my livingrooms entertainment center was difficult. Then i saw this.
The amp is built well. And the 6 watts is more than enough to use in the livingroom. I tried this amp on an orange cabinette with 2 celestion vintage 30's and a carvin cabinette which i put 4 eminence tonkers in. It sounded fantastic and clear through the whole range of volume and gain on both cabs. It doesn't seem to have a lot of distortion when cranked full, but then again i didn't buy it to use as that. I wanted an amp that was small and loud enough to practice on when not in the play room.
You can change the tubes in it to give it more of a brittish sound etc. I was surprised to find a tube amp for under 300 that you can use 4 or 5 different type of output tubes in without rebiasing, combined with an effects loop circuit, and a line out all in one.
I think it will be hard to find another tube amp in the 5 or 6 watt range with all that this has, and sounds so good for less than 300 let alone 5 or 600. Not to mention it even had a small foot pedal switch to take it in and out of boost mode.

Bogner Alchemist 212 Tube Guitar Amplifier Review

be careful- this is a bogner design built by line6. Read the blogs, line6 has very poor support for their products! Also, After blowing a few fuses and having a little peak at the organs, I found many connections that were tweaked with the use of a glue-gun. It was sold as new but I question that now! Do your research. I decided to return it and purchase a kit andbuild my own!
