Randall R212CX G3 Plus 2x12 Straight Guitar Cabinet Review

Randall R212CX G3 Plus 2x12 Straight Guitar Cabinet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just tested this little Randall R212CX with a Vox 50 watt Classic Plus head. I played with volume up to 3/4 no problem. Even at loud volume those hard to capture clean sounds come through without breakup. And hard rock riffs sound better than expected as well. My only gripe is that most tube amp heads are a little wider than the Randall R212CX.
So this cabinet is about an inch narrower than I would have liked but the sound quality is very good.

Washburn Acoustic/Electric Series AB40VSK Acoustic-Electric Bass Review

Washburn Acoustic/Electric Series AB40VSK Acoustic-Electric Bass
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To start off the Bass that is pictured is not the Bass you will recieve. That is the old AB40 Bass the new Bass is the standard version of the Stu Hamm Bass. The standard version has the sound hole slots not a round open hole the neck has dot abalone inlays and a vintage style teardrop tobacco sunburst finish. The neck of this bass has a very electric bass guitar feel to it somewhere inbetween a PBASS and a JBASS, very smooth and fast feeling.
Action, Finish, and build quality are top notch. Solid Spruce top Figured maple back I do believe the back and sides are laminated but not sure. Now as some one who has been playing bass for 35+ years and has had the Tacoma, Ibanez, and Breedlove acoustic basses this bass is the most comfortable to play the drawback is the way the Bridge is attached this bass has an individuale saddle and piezo pickup for each string yes this bass is intonatable throughout the entire neck and the action is ajustable that is something that makes this bass great. But with with this type of bridge there is some give and take. The bass unpluged is not very loud it is loud enough for private practice but you must plug into an amp the reason for this is because by having the type of bridge Washburn put on this bass they had to add a block of wood that is glued to the top and back of the body, this makes the bridge more stable but it interfears with the free movement of the top soundboard. That being said I have never played a acoustic bass that was loud enough to play along with an acoustic six string. Pluged in this bass sounds great it still has that acoustic sound and it has individual pickup level controles on the back of the bass so you can really dial in the best sound for your needs. In closing if you are looking for a really nice acoustic bass that is intonatable slim profile body and smooth playing neck this bass will not disapoint you. Teton Steel String Guitar Solid Spruce Top, Rosewood Back & Sides Electric Acoustic Cutaway STA150CENT Review

Teton Steel String Guitar Solid Spruce Top, Rosewood Back and Sides Electric Acoustic Cutaway STA150CENT

I tried this guitar at a local music store. Honestly it was the lowest price guitar in the whole place. I immediately fell in love with it. I didn't want to make any rash decisions so I did some research online. I think because it is a brand new guitar brand the only review I could find was from Teton themselves (baised?). So I went to guitar center and played some Taylors and Martins. They played almost as nice as the Teton and had no character. I promptly decided the Teton was right for me. I am now the proud owner of this wonderful interment. If you get a chance go play one!

Average Reviews:

I own this beutiful guitar and have had it for a week now. I bought it as a back up for giging with, and it has quickly moved to the forefront. it has really versitile tonal control. the pickups are outstanding. better than 1200.00 tele's by far. it seems as though leo fender and his reputation are making a statement with this guitar and its high quality. sound finish and quality make this an outstanding buy for the money. cost was not really an issue for me since i had my heart set on a US telecaster. after trying on of these i was sold. instantly impressed by the neck and the sound. blows fender tele out of the water. main reason is i played about 6 us tele's some were great and some were not. quality control made the us tele's really hit or miss. all of the g and l guitars i played felt and sounded GREAT! dont take a reviewer for his words, go out and play one. then try a fender counterpart, you'll see for yourself g and l did not cut any corners for their tribute models and their quality control is better. also tribute models have the wood CNC'd in Indonisia, but then they are shipped here to the US for inspection, the US made hardware and the same US made pickups as their more expensive US made lines. overseas fender's come with overseas junk hardware and PUPS. G and L are the way to go and a little secret people are gonna start hearing more about cause they really are great. i've been playing pro for about 15 years now and rarely get excited enough about a guitar to write a review.... you cant even find a semi hallow tele with a humbucker unless you go to a custom shop or squire. fender gives you two options 2500.00$ custom shop or 200.00$ squire. i think this guitar is better than both. happy hunting GO G and L!!!!!!!!!!!

Crate V5 All Tube Guitar Amp Combo, 5W EL84 single-ended Class A Review

Crate V5 All Tube Guitar Amp Combo, 5W EL84 single-ended Class A
Average Reviews:

I bought this amp on clearance at Guitar Center for $80. (usd). When I got it home and plugged it in, I was less than impressed. The tone was flat and when cranked the distortion was harsh and non musical. The next day, I replaced the (worthless) Sovtek 12ax7 preamp tube and el84 power tube with an Electro Harmonix 12ax7 ($12.) and JJ el84 ($21.).....instant difference....the tone was warmer and after a few hours of playing the cheap plastic coated speaker (almost) sounded ok..still not satisfied I looked at replacement speakers...I found an AMAZING sounding speaker from warehouse guitar speakers, a "Veteran 10" 10 inch, seamed paper cone speaker...some think it to be tonally superior to the Vintage 30....HOLY SMOKES!!! It is like a new amp...serious tone! I can not stop playing through it....all said, $80, plus $33 in tubes and $41. for the speaker (yes, only 41.) at roughly $150...this amp went from a dud to an amazing little tone monster....I am completely satisfied! (after a little tweeking)

Low wattage through minimal EQ and a small speaker can equal awesome tone when dimed. That's why the small tube amp is a long time secret weapon of toneful guitarists and wily producers to getting big, cranked-to-the-max tube tones down on tape.
Our new V5 Class A combo features a single EL84 output tube producing 5 watts through a single 10" speaker. You won't find a tube circuit much simpler than that, and it gives you the sweet, pure cleans and warm, crunchy overdrive that can only come from tubes. Simple volume and tone controls give you the widest range of sounds you can find on a practice/recording amplifier.

Dean ML Exotic Electric Guitar Review

Dean ML Exotic Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been wanting a Dimebag style Dean for some time now. I have a few friends who own the newer "jagged" Dime Deans and was not impressed with their quality nor expensive price tags. I paid $289.99 for this guitar. That is an UNBELIEVABLE discount. This guitar is with out a doubt my absolute favorite guitar I have ever played. I recently bought a Schecter Hell Raiser FR for around $800. This Dean blows it away. My only let down upon opening the box was well...no case but for the price I paid Im not too upset I have to go buy one. ;)
LOOKS:
The finish is MAPABURL and is quite a stunning alternative to normal "wood" finishes. Its a nice light colored wood with what looks like dark knots in it. The knots look a bit like little skulls. The craftsmanship when it comes to the binding/inlays is as flawless as its gets IMHO. The satin silver hardware also goes perfect with its look. The back of the guitar has a clear coated and stained look. You can see the beautiful Mahogany shining through. Its just so well made. Say what you will, but Korea in recent years has really been making super guitars.
FEEL:
PERFECT balance. Don't let the odd shape fool you. This guitar fits like a glove whether you are sitting or standing. Its surprisingly VERY light as well. This guitar is FAST! The action right out of the box was better than I have ever felt. The 24 and 3/4 scale keeps string tension very low. This means bends and such are a dream. I believe I've never played a guitar with a similar "V" neck contour, but now I don't want to play anything else. The set neck flows flawlessly from the 1st fret to the 22nd wear the joint is more contoured for comfort unlike Les Pauls and most Jacksons. It so easy to play. I think the strings are D'Addario.
SOUND:
I was afraid that the stock Dean pickups would be horrible, but again I was amazed. The bridge sounds very similar to the Seymour Duncan SH-6 I love while the neck is warm and deep sounding. They are very tonal, not just slapped on pickups. Pinch harmonics are effortless. Intonation is spot on. Sustain is unbelievably long. I play a lot of Dimebag style "over bends" and really beat the strings up. This guitar refuses to go out of tune! With the 2 humbuckers, 2 volumes, 1 tone, and not to mention the wood, this guitar has a lot of tone possibilities. I originally wanted a Floyd Rose on it, but they can be such a big hassle and I already have a guitar for that.
PRICE:
Amazon said the MSRP was $999 and I believe you could get it for probably around $700-$800 when they were first produced. But because of the quality and the fact they don't seem to be made anymore, its easily worth $999 IMHO. I paid $289.99 during a Lightning Deal. Unbelievable. Thats just a bit more than the price of 2 hard shell guitar cases. Same price as what I paid for my first real guitar(mexican Fender Strat before they started making Squires and Starcasters in '97). I bought a Dean DIME Stealth a day later at the same price but the MSRP was $1375 and came with a free case. The Exotic wins hands down.
CONS: No free Case. That is all!
PROS: Everything. I only want to play DEANS now.
This guitar stands normally at about $390 (EDIT: $285!!!) on Amazon now and I'm trying to stop myself from buying another. Don't let this pass you by. It will destroy alot of fancy name brand expensive guitars in a heart beat.

Aria AP-STD2 Parlour Acoustic Guitar Review

Aria AP-STD2 Parlour Acoustic Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this guitar online purely on the basis of the excellent reputation Aria company has built for themselves over the years in the guitar manufacturing industry.
I did feel unsure initially in deciding to buy this guitar without first playing it.
But my fears were removed when I took it out of the box and strumed the guitar. This little fella has great volumne, tone and fretboard playability that is second to maybe another Aria.
I use this guitar to play jazz and it has all the attributes that a jazz guitarist need to bring out some creativity. It is a very versatile guitar for folk , blues , jazz etc.
I highly recommend this parlor guitar for those who want a small bodied guitar with great tone and projection.Keep up your excellent work Aria.

Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar Walnut Review

Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar Walnut
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Recently I purchased one of these after being up in the air over the Fender Blacktop model Telecaster and the '72 Deluxe. While the Blacktop seemed like the more consumer friendly purchase, and a good buy, I ultimately picked this guitar for its good looks and build quality. The maple neck on the '72 is glossy and unlike the rosewood fretboards I have played in the past. The tuners are ill-reputed, but I have not had problems with the guitar falling out of tune. Ultimately, however, people buy this guitar for the Fender Wide Range Humbucker pickups, and they sound versatile and nice. The Blacktop humbuckers have been described as 'hotter' and more forward-seeming. This seems true to me, while the '72 may have a warmer tonal quality. The only problem I have been having is the slightly 'dark' sound of the Wide Range pickups being too thick. Various people report upgrading the pots in the '72 to 500k in the volume to give more presence. This is an inexpensive repair which I have not made yet but plan to. I think, though, in the right rig, with a decent amp, this guitar is a solid buy, and a lot of fun to play.

New Quilted Maple Electric Guitar With Double Neck Bass Review

New Quilted Maple Electric Guitar With Double Neck Bass
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I took a chance buying this guitar without having tried it out first. I do enjoy playing it. I like being able to switch back and forth from guitar to bass. The action on the bass is pretty good. The guitar neck is not as easy to play as some of my other guitars, but it's not that bad. I may have to make some slight adjustments on the guitar part. The guitar is on the heavy side and may put some stress on your back. I can play pretty good with it sitting down, but standing up with it is a little more awkward because I find that the guitar neck is uncomfortably low. I think if I find a good strap for it and position the guitar a little higher it will help. My only criticism of it is that the necks are kind of close together and my wrist bumps into the tuning keys of the guitar when I play the bass. I doubt I could do a whole show with it because of how heavy it is. For the price, it's really not bad.

Gibson AJ Advanced Jumbo Guitar Vintage Sunburst Review

Gibson AJ Advanced Jumbo Guitar Vintage Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As far as I'm concerned, this is exactly what acoustic guitars should sound like. You might find more silky or strident highs elsewhere, or more punchy lows from an old martin, and there are plenty of other guitars that excel at one particular element of timbre and tone (though you'd likely pay much more for them), but the advanced jumbo is the complete package! Balanced, delicate, powerful, and resonant, with enveloping depth and richness. Everything comes through clearly, no dominant strings or chords. The tones are nicely complex without getting confused or muddled. The neck is on the thin side which some people may dislike, but it's not anemic. Binding over the fret ends was sloppily finished between the heel and soundhole, and the plastic bridge pins and strap peg seem a little cheaply made, but both are easily remedied. Looking at it, it's about like you'd expect a $2000 acoustic to be. Close your eyes and play, and those little things are quickly forgotten. Beautiful. You can't come close to this kind of sound without paying a heck of a lot more.

Hohner DK500CE Exotic Koa Dreadnaught Acoustic/Electric Guitar with Fishman Electronic System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this Hohner DK500CE a little over a month ago. I had a Harmony acoustic for about 10 years that the shop had already lowered the action, and did some other modifications to it. With all that it was still hard to play. With the Hohner, out of the box it was ready to play. I took it into the shop only to have a strap peg added to the neck. Even the technician was blown away by the looks of it and was shocked that it was easy to play out of the box. The electronics are great. It has a combination of a saddle pickup and a internal pickup. Both can be blended to make a even deeper sound. The built in tuner is dead on accurate. All I can say is, it is perfect.

Fender Ukulele Pa'ina Solid Mahogany, Natural Review

Fender Ukulele Pa'ina Solid Mahogany, Natural
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I was looking for a new tenor uke I wasn't planning to purchase this one at all. I had my sights set on another, cheaper model but I when I went into a store called "The Guitar Shop" and saw it, it immediately began to persuade me to buy it. It was probably the price that was the biggest factor. I know how much it is online and the store was selling it for $253CDN. I couldn't pass that up.
The Pros: It sounds really, really nice. The strings that come with it are pretty good (Aquila) and I didn't have to buy new ones. The colour and feel of the uke are also quite nice but I do kind of like the mid-range Fender better style-wise.
The Cons: I've had major problems with this uke but after they were all fixed it finally became something I liked. Within the first month it had become cracked in three points on the back. I hadn't moved it in and out of the cold and although I don't have a humidifier, kept it in an environment that wasn't too dry. My other ukes and guitars are just fine but this one cracked. Also within the first two months the built-in pickup broke. I didn't ever use it but it became loose and the wires inside had disconnected. I was so frustrated.
Eventually I got it all fixed and haven't had a problem since. So for now, I'm loving it. Only time will tell if more is to happen.
I hear that the neck may start cracking where it meets the body. It is Fender's first go with ukes. Hopefully they will release a better made line in the future that sounds just as good.

For the price that I paid (25% off) this is a great guitar. The quality of the satin finish feels like a $400-$500 instrument. Nice tuners, nice sound, and nearly the depth of a standard dreadnought. I added pickups and it sounds wonderful. The nylon strings are much easier on my fingers than steel string guitars, and the smaller hybrid neck and fretboard are great for non-classical guitar players. I'm happy I tried this brand and type of guitar.
