(More customer reviews)I own many guitars and was looking for something with a different voice. I read about this brand new PRS model and saw it was a great price online. I own a couple PRS SE's and I know these guitars are made in Korea and are an amazing value. I decided to take a chance with the Mike Mushok bari. First off, I don't know who Mike M is, but I assume he's a metal dude. I don't know what specs are his, but the design is very nice, and it looks like a PRS. Right out of the box I could see stunning quality. The set up was perfect and it was (amazingly) still in tune. From the tags, I deduced it been set up and boxed at the PRS factory in Stevensville, Md (about 30 miles from my home) got shipped to Indiana, and then shipped back to me. The fretboard is shiny, unadorned ebony with fret marks only on the side of the neck. It is so slick looking it almost looks like it's wet and it plays very fast. I usually favor guitars where I can see the grain of the wood but this guitar came with a sparkle silver sunburst which I'm getting used to. Playability is excellent- medium/low action, no buzzes, perfectly straight neck. The long scale, bigger gauge strings and the wound G feels different but I got used to it pretty quick. String bending is not too tough unless you've got wimpy chops. The pups seem pretty hot and when you screw the volume up, you can hear that low, almost demonic growl that would be well suited to metal. I play it fairly clean through a 30 watt tube amp. An open G chord on the Mushok is actually a D in standard. If you like dropped D tuning you're really going to dig this sound. I haven't used it in a band setting yet, but will introduce it to the band soon.
All in all, very happy with this purchase. Incredible quality, beautiful fit and finish, killer low register sound and an ebony(!!!) fingerboard that you won't be able to keep your fingers from. Just an amazing value.

Mike Mushok, of the multi-platinum selling band Staind, joins the PRS family with this signature model SE. The SE Mike Mushok Model is the first production-model baritone guitar for PRS. Designed to Mike's specs this guitar features a solid mahogany body and neck, an ebony fretboard and a 27.7" scale length. The Silverburst finish is offset by the white binding around the body and neck and the clean look of the blank ebony fretboard.
The SE Mike Mushok Signature Model
27.7-Inch Baritone Scale Baritones allow you to tune well below standard E while keeping normal string tension. Plumb the tuning depths without the pitch issues that can accompany a drop-tuned standard-scale guitar.
PRS String-Through-Body Stoptail Bridge Designed to take full advantage of the resonant properties of their guitars, PRS Stoptail Bridges provide direct transmission of string vibration to the guitar body and makes set-up a breeze. With the addition of a string-through-body design, you get sustain, sustain, and more sustain.
Silverburst Finish It never hurts to have wicked good looks to match your tones, and the classic silverburst finish gives you just that. The look is completed by the white binding and inlay-free ebony fretboard, for a distinguished but dangerous axe.
About PRS Finishes PRS finishes their instruments with a polyester basecoat and acrylic urethane topcoat. Acrylic urethane looks and feels the closest to the old nitro-cellulose finishes but without the finish checking.
