AXL Badwater Electric Bass, Crackle Brown Review

AXL Badwater Electric Bass, Crackle Brown
Average Reviews:

This is first the AXL product that I've been disappointed in. The setup was poor including a bowed neck. I removed the bow and set intonation and action. Could not get the action to where it should be. Still playable but nowhere near where I expected it to be. Not a problem when playing the mellow stuff but your hands will quickly fatigue with faster riffs.
If you can get it for under $150 it's a reasonable deal. Much beyond that and I would consider other choices. Then again Chinese made products can be like that. You can get a great one but then the rest of the batch is sub-par. It's a roll of the dice.
A real positive are the pickups. The bass has a wonderful sound and a lot of punch. If the action were better it would be a real winner.

Eden EX1128 EX Series Bass Cabinet Review

Eden EX1128 EX Series Bass Cabinet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this cabinet to play acoustic and low volume gigs, as well as for rehearsals. The sound is very much as described, though the speaker isn't very efficient--there's a noticeable drop in volume between the Eden and my EV. My amp is a 600w Genz Benz, which, even at 8 ohms, is a little much for this speaker, so it's probably better suited to a less powerful amp. Where it really excels is as an extension. With another speaker sharing the load, the Eden really fills out the sound.
My one big complaint is the placement of the handle. Having the handle at the back makes this 30 lb. cabinet feel heavier than it is because the weight shifts downward.
As I said, though, it's great for $250, though it's no substitute for a $700 Aguilar.

Steinberger Spirit XT-2DB Standard Bass with DB-Tuner Black Review

Steinberger Spirit XT-2DB Standard Bass with DB-Tuner Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Been interested in the Steinberger since the mid-eighties but could never afford one. Been playing bass since the mid- 70s, off and on, and was playing regularly by the time the original Steinbergers came out. I was concerned about the construction and the sound, but they are both excellent. I was surprised how good this thing sounded right out of the box. I picked it up as a travel bass and have found myself playing it on a regular basis. The only minor issues are 1) due to the design the frets are 'shifted' making it a challenge to play without looking at your fretting hand, and 2) having to be stuck using the double ball strings. I've been using Rotosound and Dean Markley strings for years and it would be nice not to be limited to the double ball strings. The ability to drop tune is great. The XT2-DB detuner allows you to drop all the way down to a low B and it rivals the HipShot detuner on my custom P/J Hybrid bass. I don't use the feature much, but its good to know it's there if I need it. All things considered, this is an excellent bass for both beginner and mid-level players. For advanced players, this is a great travel bass to keep up your chops or play in small venues. Highly recommended!

Shure PG24/PG58 Wireless Vocal System, H7 Review

Shure PG24/PG58 Wireless Vocal System, H7

I am not totally impress with the performance of this microphone. Even when I adjust the gain to the lower dB, it still have some distortion at high frequency input (like the singer with high pitch voice). Other than that, it's good to have wireless and no antena to worry about. It's a compact unit. It would be nice to have an on/off switch rather have to unhook the power cable every time to turn it off.

Hofner Icon Club Bass - Vintage Sunburst Review

Hofner Icon Club Bass - Vintage Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'll qualify my remarks by noting I've been playing bass over 40 years. I own, and have played, good stuff, and stuff that looks better than it plays. This Hofner Club Bass (C-Bass, C-Series), made in Indonesia, is designed as a vintage guitar, and achieves that look and feel completely. It is short-scale, with a body the same size and dimensions as a Les Paul. It is finished caringly, and the woodgrain in both the spruce and maple is handsome. The gloss (lacquer?) finish is flawless. There is no neck binding. The pickguard is nicely executed in a too-white pearloid-look plastic, which does not detract aesthetically. The sunburst coloration has an accurate '50s/'60s vintage look. The volume knobs are tiny and crappy, and I replaced them. The rosewood fingerboard has a high-quality finish and look to it. I replaced the factory roundwound strings with Labella Beatle Bass Flatwounds, and the hollow (I don't believe there's a sustain block) body with flatwounds yields the bottomy, woody sound you'd expect. The guitar has a quite broad tonal range, and unconventional switches. It very comfortable on the knee or over the shoulder. It DOES feel extremely light, and one is tempted to say, CHEAP, as a result. However, it plays great right out of the box (no set-up), has great tone, is effortless to sling for 3 hours, and you don't see them around, either in Indonesian, Chinese (Contemporary $700) or German ($2000+) iterations. The "cool" factor is big, and the price makes it a no-brainer as a second or back-up bass.

HT-DELAY Valve Delay Pedal Review

HT-DELAY Valve Delay Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like allot of Blackstar's products. Well the HT-5 and HT-1 low wattage amps really. I purchased the delay hoping to capture lightning in a blackstar logo-ed bottle once again. Their ht-1 amp is amazing.
Its been 15 years since I last bought a delay pedal. I wondered what has the newest technology been able to improve in a delay? Well, after playing it for awhile it really just reminded me of the 15 year old pedal I've been playing upon. The 12ax7 tube didn't distill any x-factor qualities that microchip processing had robbed me of through tube amps. The tape setting is not an echoplex emulator. If I could have had that, then that alone would justify a five star rating and the cost would have been negligible. But that didn't happen.
The delay is really nothing special. It will not go down as a classic must have in the effects chain. I feel like a victim of marketing. I'm the second owner of this pedal paying half price from another guitarist who felt the same. Blackstar may really have some epic pedals in their lineup but this is not one of them.
Why three stars? It does do delay in 8 different settings. Only 7 or 8 seconds of sampling. But for the advertised price the expectation is so much more. I think a person could get the same features in a delay at a much better value(50-60 USD).
I hate to rip on Blackstar when they are just getting going here in the states, but come on guys. If they knew it wouldn't turn heads why release it at that price, with their trademark moniker, and compromise their newfound reputation? In all its disappointing. 2011 technology hasn't reinvented the delay.

I broke out my nice shiney guitar today and started plucking away at it and couldn't believe the playability of it. The tone is impeccable, the colour is breathtaking, and it is by far, one of the best axes I've ever had the privilege to play! Thank you Ernie Ball!
